Do you carry a backpack to the parks? What's in it? We're leaving on Saturday and I don't want to forget anything!

I've carried a back pack and a fanny pack. The back pack was for little DS, so it had all his stuff in it, plus extra hand wipes, etc.

This time, I'm thinking I'll only take the back pack, where I'll stash bandaids, Chapstick, hand wipes, Tylenol, extra baggies (for camera coverage in case it rains), sunscreen, film, extra clothes for little DS, some things to keep little DS occupied while waiting in lines, my prescription sun glasses, PS numbers, pad and pencil for trip report notes, maps of parks, cell phone?, and other stuff that I can't seem to remember now, lol. (I need to refer to my master packing list!)

Hope this helps some.

I have a fanny pack that can be worn as a backpack, carried as a briefcase or purse like - or slung over the shoulder. Very convenient.

I carry in it - 1) sony trv33 video camcorder - 2) Kodak Preview camera 3) maps 4) 3 ponchos 5) pen light 6) tickets 7) wallet 8) 40 page print out of the parks I made 9) 2 Brita water bottles 10)some moleskin 11) extra film 12) extra videotapes 13) Extra batteries, 14 some bubble wrap papper to keep the sony safe, 15) and a couple large ziplock bags 16) and a few small munchies 17) gum 18) chapstick
thats is about it

We take a mesh Jansport packback. The security people love it because they can see through it easily and not spend forever digging through it on their checks. Things I carry in it...

ponchos
hairbrush (have to look great for those ride pictures..lol)
towel in a ziploc bag
extra ziplocs in case we need them
sunscreen
small ziploc bag of meds
a few activity games/cards for the kids
waterbottle
misc items that the kids get tired of carrying..:)

Have a great day!

Pixie

PS...... and of course we tie on those LIME GREEN MICKEY MOUSE HEADS!!

that is soooo sweet were leaving saturday too! we almost always bring a small backpak.(nalgene water bottles are a must when it's hot outside!!!) maybe i'll see ya there:wave2: :crowded: (let's hope the parks aren't to crowded;)

I carry a backback filled with snacks for the kids (9 y/o and 4 y/o DS, and 6 y/o DD). Inside is gummies, granola bars, juicy-juices, twizlers, camcorder, camera, tickets of course, snack-paks of cookies, pretzels, and zip-lock bags of Dinsey pins for each kid.

We'll be bringing a backpack.. it's just easier to carry everything that way, and either one of us can carry it -- my husband wouldn't be caught dead carrying my handbag. ;) We'll carry:

- bottled water
- chapstick
- snacks, like goldfish and pretzels
- sunscreen
- DH's inhaler and acid reflux meds, ibuprofen, etc.
- extra socks
- sweatshirts
- pen and notebook
- camera
- gum
- hand sanitizer
- hand lotion
- sunglasses and DH's glasses (he has a tendency to lose a contact at the most inopportune times..)
- plastic baggies, useful for everything!
- cell phone
- park maps
- my wallet.. DH can carry his own :)

boy, I'm glad most of these items are small.. there's so many!

::MickeyMo "Well hi there everybody!"

Ja, well me and milady carried around a backpack each (that is, I carried around two backpacks) basically laden with water! Our money stayed in our pockets, our card key in our wallets... Disney poncho in each bag too and that's about it!

My DD and I always take a black JanSport mesh backpack. The security CM's at the gate love it. I just hold it up and give it a twirl.

Contains:
Camera, film, water bottle, several 99 cent ponchos,
bandaids for blisters, something for a headache, tiny Perl hand cleaner bottle, combo sunscreen/repellant

Edited:
Whoa, Deja Vu, Pixie! I didn't read the whole thread before replying! The other good thing about the mesh back pack is that it is much COOLER that a solid pack.

Sounds nifty. What brand is it and where did you get it?

I always carry a small back pack with me. :)

Inside would be-

Bottled water
Wallet
Hair Scrunchie
Lipstick
Compact
Camera & Film
Date Book
Pen
Some form of pain reliever

I think that's pretty much it. :)

I always take a backpack to the parks. I like the fact that I can carry my stuff but still have my hands free. Here's what I usually put in it:

--tiny travel purse thing (with resort key cards, money, etc.)
--ponchos
--gloves and baseball cap (for cold weather trips)
--list of PS's
--digital camera

Each person in our group wears their own fanny pack. In mine I have..camcorder, passes, chapstick, poncho, tissue, peanut butter cracker 6 pack, small amount of cash. My dd, 10, carries autograph book/pen, camera/film, peanut butter cracker 6 pack, poncho. We travel pretty light. I tend to chafe a bit from the backpacks.

I saw a couple of people with what appeared to be small rolling backpacks like some kids use in school. Looked like a great idea. I have COPD and any extra weight around my upper body is not too easy for me to deal with. Being on a strict diet being able to carry some healthy food for me to eat in the park would be great. I am going to start shopping around so I will have one for our next trip. I am assuming that a small one would be as easy to take on a ride as a large purse. Any thoughts?

Hi its called a "tour" by mountainsmith.com

at their site there is a product link and when you click on that there is a category called lumbar

we got the Lumbar Tour but almost all of them can be worn as a fanny pack, side pack, backpack, over the shoulder like a purse or by two handles like a briefcase

My advice is MINIMALIST...

We (me, DW, DS, DD1, DD2, DD3) take small fanny packs only.

Key items
- Water
- Poncho (optional, I have never used one, I use dry weave shirts, shorts, underwear, socks, hat and just get wet and dry off soon after. You SWEAT under those ponchos)
- Advil, and children's tylenol
- Moleskin
- Camera
- Some form of meal replacement bar. VERY IMPORTANT... NOT chocolate coated, or any other coating that will melt.

Don't take anything you don't need. The only thing I have regretted forgetting is moleskin once. I lock everything in the safe in the room and only bring my park pass and as little as I can get away with.

Please let me know if I'm carrying too much.

I'm planning to take 3 backpacks.

1 teeny backpack for my DD, just a tiny water bottle, sig book and large sized pen.

1 medium sized backpack for my DD's mom. In it will be poncho, change of clothes of DD, water bottle, snacks.

1 medium sized backpack for me. In it will be another water bottle, poncho, digicam, videocam, extra batteries, more snacks

and both myself and DD's mom will be carrying GMRS radio.

do we look like a bunch of geek yet?

We're going to WDW in May and we're trying to figure out how to haul everything for our 2 DS (5 & 2), I know we'll have a stroller. This may be a stupid question, but what do you do with those backpacks on rides? I know I'm not leaving it in the parked stroller while we go through the queue for rides.

You get the joy of carrying them on the ride with you... That is why I don't do backpacks.

Idea for the cameras and video recorders: Take all you footage/pictures in the morning when people are fresh. Don't capture cranky moments in the afternoon heat. Put the packs in lockers and free yourself from the worry and hassle.

RENT a stroller. Don't worry about bringing your own. It is much more convenient. We still get one, even though DD3 is almost 7.
