Do you sunburn easily?

Yesterday we went out to see our college kids, and while we were there I ended up spending about 10 minutes in the sun while talking to one of them (usually I avoid being in the sun for more than a minute or two at a time). Sure enough my whole forehead is as red as a lobster today.
I have the special ability of burning over and over again without tanning. I can easily burn 20 times in the summer and never once get a tan.
If I know we will be in a situation where there is a lot of sun (like going to six flags for example) I will cover myself with my SPF 70 sun blocker.

Are you a sunburning magnet, or are you able to tan rather than burn?

I slather on the SPF. My complexion is very fair and I just burn. If I worked really hard at it then I suppose I could get a tan, but it's not worth the hassle, health risks or wrinkles.

I have very fair skin. I burn easily and never tan. I spend all summer on my boat, and I am the only one that never tans no matter how hard I try. I gave up a long time ago, its just not worth it.

OMG, I burn so easily. If I work at it hard enough I might get a slight tan, but its very rare. My son is like me, but he tans a little better. My dh turns red then tans-- very dark. Both of our girls turn tan without burning at all.

I burn very easily but it does turn into a tan. Now though I just don't risk it and cover myself in SPF also, considering how stupid I was when younger wanting nothing but a nice tan.

I go straight to burn-then turn a lovely shade of jaundice yellow-it is a sight to behold.-Oh and this is after my skin falls off due to the burn.

I am so fair skinned that I have to use SPF 30.

I burn easily, but I've gotten used to it. I found that no matter what SPF I use, I seem to burn. But now I use the tanning oil from Banana Boat (SPF 15 only) and it does wonders for me! It seems that actually keeping my skin moisturized was the problem to begin with, and now I tan nicely without too bad of a sunburn.

In a group I will be the last one to get burned. DH will be red as a lobster and I won't even have any tan marks. I don't tan either. Now I get wind burn easily.

I've never been able to tan - I burn within minutes, and that's WITH sunblock. I had 6 2nd-degree sunburns by the time I was 18. When I was 13, I burned the entire left side of my face. I reapply sunblock every 2 hours but it truly does me no good. So I just stay pasty white.

I used to get sunburned from the heat lamps used for the fries at McDonald's when I worked there, so yeah, I burn very easily.

Tan easily, almost in the shade...Kids as well. DH and I are both dark haired, dark skinned. He is 100% Italian, and I must have some in me as well.;)

yes. i sunburn more easily than anyone i know. i have two color choices - red or white. i prefer white.

I burn very easily, and never tan. I always have to use SPF 30 sunscreen, and even then it's rare that I don't get at least a "small" sunburn. Of course, down here in Florida EVERYONE has a tan, so my friends comment on how pale I am. :confused3 I just tell them that I'm 1) albino, or 2) a polar bear in human form. :p

I swear I am the whitest person I know. I burn incredibly easily. I have gotten sunburns on my arms from driving in my car with tinted windows. Of course I use sunblock all the time. It took me many years to find one that actually works. Do I tan?? :lmao: If that's what you call it! Compared to my natural skin color...yes it's a slight tan. Compared to anyone else...I still look like a ghost.

It is kinda funny to see pictures of me with DBF's family during the summertime. They are italian and cuban and every one of them gets a deep dark tan in the summer. So I look like some random person that just invaded their pictures!

I'm comedically pale.

Nope. I sat in the sun in Miami with one lot of SPF 15 on from 9am - 7pm in August (no umbrella) and was fine three days running. My friends who both burn easily were under the umbrella with SPF 50 on and both got burnt. HOW?!?!?

My mum and 1 sister burn as soon as the sun comes out. My other sister burns if she doesn't wear enough SPF. My Dad and I can sit out all day and never burn.

I've never been sunburnt in my life. In the UK I never wear suncream.

I do burn easily and slather on the sunscreen.

My dh is fighting skin cancer. There is no such thing as a healthy tan. He always tanned and very rarely burned, so he's not the type you'd think would get skin cancer. Even if you don't burn, you should wear sunscreen for protection again the sun.

Possibly by the sun deflecting off the sand / ground. many times I have gotten sun burnt by deflection.

I sunburn easily. I have visted Paris in March (and will do so again in a few weeks) when spring is tepidly emerging and I return home looking like I vacationed in the tropics.

I'm a pale complected, freckle faced, red-headed stepchild. Yes, I burn very easily.
