We use a container as well, for the dog food and for the cat food.

We have an elevated dog bowl with storage under it. The bowl locks into place so the dogs can't get into it. It holds 50 lbs of food.

We have a container on wheels that snaps shut. If we left the bag out it would be eaten by our German Shepherd. I think it stays fresher too since the container is sealed.

I use a rubbermade container I bought in the pet section of the grocery store to keep the food fresh.

I used to dump the bag into the container, but once when there was a dog food recall, I didn't have the bag to check the codes. So now I just set the open bag in the container.

i use an airtight container. if it's a smaller bag, i just put the bag in the container. if it's a larger bag, i dump it out into the container. we have two smaller dogs.

Delicat came in a plastic container with a snapping lid. We have the containers set up for dog and cat food. The containers hold about 15 lbs of food. So what ever bag of food we buy, Iams for the dog and whatever for the cat and the ferrals outside, we put about half in the container and the rest goes in a Storage Bin outside in the deck. I found that mice enjoyed the bags of food and if one got into the house the mice would feed out of the bag.

We've always kept ours in a metal trash can with a lid in the garage. We've had rodents chew through plastic back when I was a kid to get to the dog food, so we used metal. Never had any issues.

Our 60lb mutt has an "airtight vault" that we got from PetSmart that keeps his food fresh and safe from Florida's pesky ants. We keep it in a kitchen cabinet that he can't break into.

Our dog eats Nature's Domain (the fancy Costco brand) and we can ALMOST fit the whole bag in the vault.

Ours goes in a plastic container- we get ants at least once a year. The cats have figured out that once it get to the last week's worth of food they can knock it over, so I have to refill it before it gets that low.

It is best to keep the food inside it's bag inside another container unless you wash the container you put the food in. The oils and such (the left over residue) from the food can get on the sides and bottom of the container can go rancid and spoil.

I used to keep my cat's food in the bag it comes in. For the past 5 months, however, I,ve been putting it into a pair of 27.8 ounce plastic coffee cans that I thoroughly washed an dried before starting to use

We buy bulk pet food from Costco (love the Natures Domain food for dogs there). The food stays fresh, bugs stay out. And our cat has been known to claw through a pet food bag overnight, so food in the bag is just not safe in this house.

We have a 15 lb dog but I buy the 30 lb bag of food. It has a zip top so I scoop out whatever fits in a square Tupperware container. The container goes in the bottom shelf of my pantry and the dog food bag goes in the laundry room.

I do both. I have a small container that I keep in the pantry. I fill it up every couple of weeks from the bag that I keep down in the basement.

I use airtight petfood containers with wheels for my dog and cat food. I buy the big bags because its cheaper and store them in the garage. I wouldn't store the bags in there in case of critters/bugs getting into them.

I have a large metal container with a tight lid. I heard it helps keep freshness but I really have no idea. I just like it because it is cute and looks better than the big food bag sitting out in the corner.

just keep it in the bag? We've always just kept it in the bag, right next to his bowl. But I saw this 50 pound dog food container at Target and am debating whether or not I want to buy it. I'm wondering what other Disers do.

I don't have dogs, but I have cats. I have to keep their extra food in a plastic lidded container that seals securely, otherwise there is trouble. I once left a full (unopened) bag on the counter overnight, and the next morning, the bag was ripped to shreds and food was scattered everywhere. I don't ever do that anymore. Lesson learned.
