Do you still live in the town/state where you grew up?

I live in the state where I grew up, but I have lived in Colorado (3 months), Iowa (4 years while in college), and Massachusetts (6 years) in the interim. I currently live about 45 minutes from where I grew up.

I live next door to where I grew up!! But.....I lived in Chicago for six years and Colorado for 4.:D

That's really neat that so many people still live in the same house, or on the same street, etc. that they grew up in. My in-laws still live in the same house that my DH grew up in here in CT, and I think that's neat that he still can go home to the same bedroom, etc. (of course it looks different now). Although my family has always lived in CT, my parents moved about 3 times when I was growing up, so no house has any sentimental signifigance for me.

Nope. I couldn't make enough money there to pay my student loans, and I wanted to live near WDW. If I moved back to the area, it would only be to the city (New Orleans). Rural life was the pits!

in Yonkers NY then moved to New Rochelle for a few years and now reside in NJ. We have little family left in Yonkers.

Yes, I live next door. I had moved away but came home in 93' very good choice:D

Nope, grew up in MA and all my family still live there, but I came south in 1994 to get my Master's degree and just never wanted to go back North. I go home to visit about twice a year and since one of those times is in the winter...I am always reminded why I move south....I HATE the cold weather.

Besides, since I live in Kissimmee now, the family usually visits once or twice a year.

I was born & still live here in Michigan. I've lived in 3 towns though, Redford twp., Dearborn & now Brighton.

I was born in Portsmouth, Virginia and moved soon after several times (Dad was in the Navy.)

After he was stationed in Philadelphia, we ended up staying there, where he retired from, and we then moved to suburban Philadelphia.

Since that time, once I got married, DH and I moved to:

York Beach, Maine
Durham, New Hampshire
North Lebanon, Maine

We are now back in the State where I was born, Virginia!

I just read through everyone's posts....I'm surprised at the amount of DISers who live in the house they grew up in!

I can't even imagine that! I think on one hand it has a very comforting sound to it, but then again, if I stayed on the same street and the same house, I think about all that I would have missed.

I think staying put definitely has it's advantages, but I also think moving around, seeing other places, and just the overall experience is a big advantage too!:D

In the end, home is where the heart is....wherever that may be!

LOL...............I grew up on the West Coast in San Francisco; I'm now on the East Coast in Boston :) :) :) :) ........

I was born in Minneapolis, grew up in a northern suburb, and now live in a southern suburb.

Probably a total mile distance of about 20 miles, if that.

No way! It was the chemical capital of the world as far as I'm concerned. There was no way I was staying. Too many other pretty places to be.

No. I was born in Houston, spent the first 7 years of my life there then live in Phoenix, AZ from age 7 to almost 16, then moved back to Houston, where I stayed until I moved to Michigan.

My husband lived in the same house until we married. That amazed me :)

I do live in the same town where I grew up, but we have moved houses 3 times. I really like this part of Georgia. :)

I have never been out of the State (California) ever, not even for a vacation. I was born and lived in Southern California until age 12, have been in Northern California since.

I grew up in Seattle. 9 months after getting married we moved to Minneapolis, MN. 1000 miles away. 3 years ago my mother followed us here and now lived 7 miles from us.

I did live out of the country and out of the state for a while.
