Do you stay at same hotel every time?

Hi everyone-
I'm starting to plan our next trip to WDW (for Dec 2003- so far away!) and thinking about where we should stay. We've been to WDW twice (well, as adults) and stayed at WL both times and absolutely love it. WL is great at Xmas time so I really want to stay there again, but then a little voice says "try somewhere new!" What to do? We had dinner at AKL last time, and it was beautiful, so I'm thinking of staying there, but my heart keeps saying "You like WL. Think about the fireplace, think about the ferry to MK, think about the chocolate chip muffins at Roaring Forks!" So repeat WDW travelers, do you pick the same resort everytime? And if you don't, do you regret it?

For us, we've stayed at the GF about half of our WDW vacations. We've stayed at some other resorts, too, so while it is nice to try them, I always miss the GF. But, it is great to try new resorts, and I have liked all of the ones I've tried. They are all nice, and there are special things about each and every one of them. :)

I haven't stayed at the same place twice! It's not really intentional but mostly revolves around our budget and where the codes happen to be available. I've stayed at all three All Stars, CSR, FW and Mariott DTD and liked them all for different reasons. I though I would be disapointed this past trip because I really wanted to stay at CSR again but I fell in love with ASMu once we arrived. You have to go with what works best for you.

We enjoy trying different hotels each visit. The only one we have stayed at twice is the Poly. We have tried the BWI (loved it) , BC,and Dixie landings. This Dec we try the GF.

I've never stayed at the same resort twice. I have stayed at WL, PO-FQ, CBR, and ASMu. Next trip, we are staying at AKL and YC.

We really loved WL, and will probably stay there again. We are also strongly considering PO-FQ again.

Most of our stays have been determined by how much $$$ we have to spend. I would rather have a budget trip to WDW, than no trip at all!

If you have a favorite, if finances allow, I would say go for it! You can always visit other resorts to get a feel for what you may like in the future! If you are leaning strongly to another stay at WL, IMHO, you should stay there, rather than be disappointed if you choose somewhere else.

We're in the Vacation Club at Old Key West, so we stay there a lot. But I've also stayed at ASMu, PO, DL, WLV, and BWV, and have loved each one. I especially loved the location and atmosphere of the Boardwalk, and can't wait to stay at Beach Club or Yacht Club someday. And someday, I'll definitely stay at Grand Floridian too. All have very special qualities. It just depends on what you plan to do, where you plan to be most, what your personal taste is, and what kind of trip you want, etc. Disney just does GOOD STUFF. That's why we joined DVC. We knew it would be top quality. I would personally recommend trying something new. You never know .... you might like it EVEN better! But IMHO, you won't be disappointed in a Disney property, especially a Deluxe property like AKL.

Each summer we spend the "majority" of our stay at the WDW Dolphin. Although, we do stay at other Disney properties each year as well, I still seem to favor the Dolphin. This summer, we'll be at Disney's Vero Beach, the CR, AKL & the Dolphin. All the resorts are special and have their own special aspects...yet it seems many enjoy a "comfy" familiar feeling in ONE special resort, they just can't find in the others! ;)

NO!

Lifes too short. It's bad enough that I keep going back to the same place (LOL) so I try to justify it to myself by staying in different hotels, as far as budget allows.
This year will be my first at AKL and Hard Rock Hotel - I can't wait.

WL is still on my to do list. I agree with other comments that all of the WDW hotels have something special.

I love the boat to Downtown from P/O
The hammocks on the beach at CBR are fab
Coronado Springs has a lovely ambience, especially at night.
etc etc

I want to try all of the others at some stage, but if you are hesitant why not have a few nights elsewhere and then book the remaining time at WL. That way, if you think that you have made a big mistake, you know that you will be back at your favourite place in a few days.

Good Luck! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

As I said in another thread, we have stayed at ASMu twice in the past year, and plan to stay there again when we go in November. My kids loved it and we really enjoyed the pools and the food court. It had everything we needed at a great price. We are branching out a tad now, though...we are also staying at Poly concierge this next trip!

I think you should go somewhere different. But if you wanted to you could split your stay. Half at WL and half at a different resort. That way you would get the best out of both worlds. ;)

We have tried to stay at a few different ones but always seem to have our favorite. And also we belong to DVC and spend a lot of time at those.

We've had 30 some vacations at WDW and 26 have been at the Poly! Next week we'll be back there and we have booked our spring break trip there, too. We love it. We've stayed at BC twice plus a night, FW cabins twice when we had a baby with us, and GF once (going back there in Dec.). We've become members of DVC so I'm sure we'll spend lots of vacations at BCV or OKW, but I'm sure we'll get some Poly time in, too. We'll also be returning to the GF for some trips as we really enjoyed our stay there, too. We also think we'd like to stay at AKL for a couple of nights some winter.

I think all the WDW resorts have their own magic. Just follow your heart.

Wow, thanks for all the responses! I never thought about splitting our stay between two resorts ( I don't know why I didn't, I've read about so many other people doing it!). I think that might be a great idea for us. It would be like 2 vacations in one! :Pinkbounc Hmmm.... if only we could stretch out our vacation long enough to stay at 3! LOL!

I think half the fun of going away is doing something different. If you go to WDW often and stay at the same place, I think you can easily start to get bored with it. I think that staying at the resorts is always a good idea, and you know it will be done the Disney way. So we like to experiment and try out different things. Also it deopends alot on your guest party...for young kids MK is the area we would focus, if you'd rather just hang out walk around and rides and things are not your bag, then maybe Boardwalk area is best for you. The best part about WDW is that no matter where you are, you have alot of options and it's all accessable.

We've stayed at CB, DL-POL, CR, WL, YC, BWI, Swan and enjoyed them all. But, it just doesn't feel like we're at Disney unless we stay at the Beach Club. If we're going to Disney, it's the BC for us!

Right now we really like the Dolphin, have stayed there twice and plan on staying there next summer!!:D

NO, variety is the spice of life. We try to stay at a different resort everytime we go, as you can see from the list in my signiture. Some we have liked better than others. My personal favorites are PO-R and the Contemporary, so far!

Sort Of, we stay at the Polynesian for the 4th of July and BWI for Christmas.

We did go to DL for spring break this year, I tried the AKL for my birthday as well.

Next year we will be at the Contemporary for the 4th since the Hawaii building will be closed for renovations.

I also take DS with special needs for a birthday trip and the last 3 have been at the BWI for convienence. Next year we are going to try something different.:bounce: :Pinkbounc

It is hard to give up something that has been tried and true, but you can't go wrong with anything Disney!!

We have stayed at several resorts and look forward to staying at more in the future. Overall, POR is our favorite and we've stayed there lots. Many times the codes for the moderates are so good that while my heart loves the WLV, my pocket book loves POR. As a matter of fact, we're staying at POR this Christmas because we couldn't bring ourselves to ignore the $85 a night rate (WLV was $300)! One thing about switching resorts - only do so if you'll be at Disney for more than a week. Have fun deciding! :p
