Do You Stay At Other DVC Resorts Than Home Resort?

Just curious if people out there stay at the other DVC Resorts than their home resort. Even though I like the other resorts, especially Villas at the Wilderness Lodge and the Animal Kingdom Villas, it seems that we like Old Key West the best and haven't tried the other resorts. It feels like home, if you know what I mean. I know we are not using our DVC at it's maximum.

Most of our points are at OKW, so we usually spend at least one trip a year there (sometimes more). We also try to stay at BCV and VWL at least every other year. We also love SSR, so if we're not doing OKW, we stay there. We'll probably try a stay at AKV after the new building opens if something is available at 7 months.

We did VB once and it was okay. We have never done HHI, but we would like to some day. We stayed at BWV once and that was enough for me. Didn't like it.

And then every so often we'll add a night or two at another Disney resort like GF, Polynesian, CR, CSR etc.

Now if they ever open DVC California, we'll be using points to stay there every few years. I love DL.

Oh, we did stay at Hilton Head. It was nice. We were in the Main Building. I like the outlying buildings better, but I believe the 1-bedroom villas are only in the main building. I might be wrong, but that's what I heard.

We purchased BWV about 8 yrs ago and this summer will be the second time we are using our time share point any where else...we are staying at BCV.....We have become very close with lots of the CM's at BWV it's hard not to stay therer..

We DID, but then we did the sell-buy thing and made the "non-home" resort into our home resort. Once DH stayed at OKW, he was hooked, didn't want to stay anywhere else. One reason we made it our home resort eventually was peace of mind-there is somewhere listed that DVD retains the right to restrict us to booking at our home resort. I know it's like a one in a million chance, but DH didn't even want to worry about that remote a possiblity. Also, he likes to say "I'm an Old Key West Owner, after all, I remember that some people used to think it was the only true DVC resort".

After our stay at BWV in Aug, we will have stayed everywhere except one of our 'homes' :rotfl: :rotfl:

We own at VB and SSR.

That is one of best parts of DVC is the variety of places to stay.

VWL is our favorite, but we love different aspects of all of them.

A couple of weeks ago, we stayed at BCV...our first non-home stay. We'd also like to try VWL, and possibly BWV. We will also probably do VB because both of my adult daughters rave about it. But I am quite sure we'll spend most of our stays at OKW. It's just been perfect for us.

We did our 1st 2 trips at SSR (our Home) but are now branching out to the others. We have BCV in about 3 weeks and VBR in Aug.

We will try all of them if available at the 7 month mark but will always have SSR booked first at the 11 month mark as if we have to it's no big deal as we love SSR.

I truely can't see how we could go wrong at any of the DVCs for the type of travelers we are. We have slept in a 2 man tent on the bay during a hurricain many years ago and still have fond memories of that trip.
We did the same thing with the Values and Mods as well.

Evem though Boardwalk is our home and we love it we also like to try other resorts as well. So far we have also stayed at VWL, BCV, OKW, and VB. We have a night booked at HH for this October. I'm sure we'll stay at SSR and AKV at sometime in the future as well.

We own at OKW, BWV and AKV. I have stayed at all the DVC resorts except HH and AKV (not open yet).

We have stayed at all the DVC resorts except BCV, and of course AKL. We own at BWV and OKW. I have to say my favorite is OKW. The family likes BWV for the Food & Wine fest.

We own at SSR and are awaiting the right resale contract for an add-on at VB. We take 3 trips a year. One trip will always be to SSR, one trip will always be to VB, and the third trip we plan to rotate through the other resorts we like - hitting each one once every 3-4 years.

Tina...actually, it sounds like you really are using DVC at its maximum! You are staying at a place you like a lot, it feels like home, and has the lowest point schedule of all DVC resorts. Sounds like you're maxing out your DVC very much! :thumbsup2

Ah, a Richyams reference!! Well played! :)

We own at SSR & VB(newer purchase)

We just got back from VWL and really enjoyed it, but it's SSR for Thanksgiving(that was our first trip last yr).

VB points are for Spring Break, already booked for 2008.

Like I'mNoPrince, we book SSR at 11 months, then if the mood strikes we'll call at 7 months to try to switch resorts. We did waitlist VWL and it came through in less than a month.

Personally I'd like to try OKW, especially for a longer trip because just from seeing the virtual tour on the member website, those rooms are huge(this confirmed also by members who have stayed their).

Because we go to WDW 3-4 times a year, we like to vary our locations; it makes every trip feel completely different. For F & W, though, we only stay at our BWV home (convenience). For our longer Jan. trips, we'll switch mid-stay, and for the F & G, or any impulse trips, we'll stay "wherever".
We've never stayed at BCV, HH, or VB. Our "beachy" vacations tend to be at the Outer Banks (no VB), plus we're not golfers (no HH), and prior to DVC, we often stayed at YC/BC, and since BWV's location is the same and we book standard views there, we probably won't stay at BCV in the future.
I can't wait 'til AKV opens and give us another reason to "sleep around"! :rolleyes1

I won't get into all the reasons why, but I've not yet stayed at my home resort. It's not that I don't like my home resort (I love it) or don't want to stay there. It's just that stuff happened. But unless something else happens to mess me up, I will be staying at my home resort in just two weeks and a day.

Since 1998 we've gone to our home resort about 20% of the time. So far haven't had too much problem booking at 7 months. We avoid peak times.

We've stayed at VWL and OKW so far. Would love to try HHI and VB one of these days, if I can convince DH.
