For people that only visit once or twice a year: Do you start planning and scheduling your next DLR trip as soon as you return home from your vacation?

We had a lovely time the first week of Nov at DLR and now I'm already itching to plan our trip next fall. I know dates could change a bit, but having a DLR trip on the calendar (even many months away) just feels exciting.

Is it too early to plan? Or does the anticipation of a trip bring you joy?

Generally for the BEST room rates, the earlier you book the lower the nightly rate.

Look and see what the rates are and that may help you decide when to go.

We're in Seattle, and only get to go every 1.5 or 2 years. I usually start strategizing/planning the next trip as we're on the plane back to Seattle. This year is different, since I paid off my student loans and am splurging on three trips in one year (starting in 20 days!)....a year that I've planned out since our last trip in May '14.

I usually start planning as soon as we get home...or even before we get home!

Not always, but sometimes. We've done last minute trips as well, but I almost always know when the next Disney vacation is before I ever even get there. I guess I have a little problem *ahem*... it is usually at least part of the conversation on the long plane ride home. :)

There's something about the anticipation of a trip that's almost As exciting as being there on the trip itself.

I'm planning DLR for next fall (or maybe late spring/early summer), Universal Studios Hollywood (sometime next year) to do the Wizarding world of Harry Potter and DW sometime in 2017 or 2018, whenever Avatar land opens.

Just knowing there's a trip on the calendar gives us something to look forward to and save our $ too. We do other trips and visit other places but planning for Disney is by far the most fun.

It's never too early to start planning!

We did two trips within one year (Dec 2014 and Sept 2015). When we got home DH said our next vacation has to be somewhere other than Disneyland (shocking, I know!). So I've planned 3 days in San Diego next August... at the end of a Disney Cruise :)

We'll return to DLR in 2017 though and will start planning that after the cruise.

DH keeps saying that we have to vacation somewhere other than Disneyland...but when it comes down to it, we keep going back!

I started planning our upcoming December 2015 WDW trip back at the end of February right after we got back from DL. The amount of planning needed for WDW was stressing me out so much that I booked an August 2015 DL trip in mid April. We leave for WDW in 3 weeks and although I have given up on going back to DL for my birthday in March, I am still looking at rooms for August!

I'm so tempted to book fall dapper day rates onsite but they require a non- refundable deposit. I'm guessing you could alter your dates without penalty but that you couldn't cancel entirely. We'd have to pull kids out of school for the week (elementary and preschool, so not a huge problem). My dd8 has fall break for three weeks in sept/oct but the intense heat followed by halloween crowds doesn't sound appealing at all. The promise of lower crowds and cooler weather (conducive to dressing fancy!) in November sound more reasonable.

I LOVE planning. I'm planning my birthday trip for next October and also the family trip for June 2017. DH has a vague idea of what I'm up to, but it's easier to spring it on him sooner to the date.

right now I am planning two trips in 2016 at the same time.....January and May
Obviously the January trip is more my focus but I do have hotel booked for May already and am looking at flight deals

I feel all down when I don't have a trip planned. And after this last one, we don't even have a target date to return to DL or WDW. That probably explains the bad mood I've been in the last few days....at least, according to my wife.

I totally agree! We always have a Disney trip plan :D

Same! I can't imagine not having a Disney trip planned!! It helps me when I'm feeling super stressed out to know that I'll be there again feeling like I'm 6 years old with not a care in the world except what to ride next!

We're the same way. We only get to go about every couple years or so (would like to make it more, but maybe someday...). We started planning our next trip the night before we left our last trip. It was kind of funny too; we were sad that we had to leave the next day but suddenly realized we can make other trips, so that made the sting out of leaving less painful.

We usually have about a 1-2 month Disney-planning hiatus after we go on a trip because it can be exhausting, lol. So, we will be there in December and come mid-spring, I will be itching to get something on the calendar for next winter (most likely FL next trip).

Currently planning the 2016(DL), 2017(Wdw) 2021(wdw) and I'm sure there will be a DL between the two wdws. I have no idea what you're talking about.....

Hey I think I know what Erin this is...
We just went in September and I was already planning a trip on the way home. Can't decide between Christmas 2016 or June 2017...
