When I stepped on the scale this morning, I saw that 11 pounds was gone...yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc And my next thought was that I think it's time to reward myself with a new article of clothing. :teeth:

Do you reward yourself along the way? If so, with what?

Good for you with the 11 lb loss!

Personally I think it is much better to reward yourself with a piece of clothing than a food treat or something. I don't know what your ultimate loss goal is, but you will probably need some transition clothes along the way. It feels soooo good to get a piece of clothing that really fits you in a smaller size.

I normally don't spend a ton of $ on transition clothes, but a few dollars here and there can go a long way to boost your moralle!

Another thought is you could also put $$ aside to buy yourself a bigger treat towards the end, but sometimes smaller rewards more often provide a nice incentive.

I've also gotten myself treats that aren't clothing that I won't shrink out of - a small piece of jewelry or a pamper item etc.

Good luck to you and hope you continue to keep WISHing your way to success!!!

I agree, little boosts in the ole' wardrobe are always wonderful!! I have also gotten little treats along the way!!
Great job on the loss!! Keep up the great work!:wave2:

I agree rewards are important. I don't always partake but buying transition clothes is fun. I don't always have time to shop though. I do have a sweet reward at times because I can't totally deprive myself. Following WW I just add it in, point wise. Taking care of yourself and setting goals that correspond with rewards make the achievement that much sweeter. My ultimate goal is to be 70lbs down by my next trip to Disney and a whole new vacation wardrobe. How sweet is that! Hang in there! You doing well!

That's great news. Definitely a reward is well deserved. I've done the food treat reward. It's usually something legal but something I don't have too often, like lobster.

My 2 cents.....
Although, I began reward myself with food.....it turns out I didn't WANT to do that anymore!!!!! Cause I did actually change my way of eating and looking a food. Anyway I have decided not to reward myself with clothing (although I have had to buy according to weight loss) but I have been saving my rewards for the end......which is to actually take 500.00 and buy all new clothes when I reach my goal. I am one of those typical moms who never buys myself anything! even with my birthday money i buy for the kids. I do promise however to spend that amount on myself.

Thanks, Jen!! I find that rewards along the way (non-food!) keep me motivated. When I see I fit in a smaller pair of jeans and they're so comfortable, I feel GREAT! :)

Thanks, everyone!! Yup...we deserve those rewards along the way. ;) I haven't actually bought a pair of jeans since starting, but I have dropped one size into my old size. Now they're kind of baggy and I want to see if I can get into the next smaller size. Where did I put those? I hid those REALLY well...LOL! Keep up the great work, ladies! Oh! And when I stepped on the scale this morning, I was down 16! Wooooooooooo hoooooooooo! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Clothes are a good idea, but since I know I'm going to "undergrow" them, I'm hesitant to spend too much money - mostly Wal-mart for me until I'm closer to goal. Of course, I'll buy nice pieces when I have a special occasion (the cruise next Sept. for sure!), but I haven't chosen to use clothes as a treat.

Instead, I've set up mini shopping sprees: every time I reach a 25-pound milestone, I can spend that much money on whatever I want on Amazon.com. So, when I made it to 25 pounds gone, I bought $25 worth of CDs. When I hit 50 pounds, I'll have $50 to spend, and so on. The bigger the accomplishment, the bigger the prize!

Do whatever works for you, but be sure to reward yourself for a job very well done! You deserve it! ::yes::

I used to reward myself, but I am hesitant to do that now. For the time being, I am working for clippies. I have bought clothes, music, shoes, workout tape/cd's, a special bottle of wine, you name it, only to wind up outgrowing them or watching them accumulate months of dust. I have not done that yet on this journey, and I have to say, I am really not feeling like I'm not being good to myself. I feel totally different about how I relate to my body. It has become like a treasure that I take care of, not something that carries my mind and heart and lungs and liver and stomach and tongue around. Like a piece of art that needs to be enjoyed. Every time I can do an extra set of crunches, or a new Pilates move or refuse some otherwise yummy food without giving it a second thought (because to eat it would be like putting a fig leaf on the David), that is my reward.
Now that is not to say I don't have plans. My reward will be shopping in Paris in the spring, and being able to wear sexy clothes that will help me blend in with the beautiful Parisien women, and not look so touristy. That is really what I'm all about. I want to kiss along the Champs-Elysees. I want to be able to have French portions and not feel cheated. I want to drink wine and not feel like I will have to work for 3 months to get healthy again. And I want these changes to be who I am, forever. That is my reward, and I can't seem to be able to do it the other way. I've tried.:(

Keep the Faith!

I've always had a hard time finding jeans that fit me so over the years I've always saved my old jeans that I got too big for. You just never know. :o Well, the time had finally come that I need them. I love having to retire my old jeans and getting to wear a new smaller size. The only problem is that most of them are so old, that they are from before clothing sizes got bigger. Now I don't really know what size jeans I wear. This time they are all going away when they get too big!

Since I have jeans in every size imaginable, I have rewarded myself with 3 new tops so far. All bought in the Misses dept instead of the womens dept. They are all more form fitting and it feels so good. I did look for tops that would be easy to alter as I don't plan to stay this size for long. ;)

I really like Aprils idea, that's great!

So far, it seems as though I have been losing for clippies!

Those things are addictive! Just wish I could get new ones quicker, lol. ;)
