The old way to make dining reservations at Epcot? When you entered the park to the left there were a bunch of tv screens with phones, you picked one up and a CM came on the tv and you made your reservations??

hi
yes you could do it at down town disney as well! :)

I do remember. How long ago was that? One of my children wanted to know if someone was standing right behind the wall talking to us.

I remember that as well except when Epcot first opened, those screens were actually in Spaceship Earth.

I remember it well ... as you disembarked Spaceship Earth, there were those banks of video screens. And there was another kiosk in Germany.

We're like nursing home residents around here, pining for the old days. Just listen to the furor when a restaurant's menu changes, or WCC is tamed down!

Me? Guilty as charged.

I'm actually feeling like some days I should sit on our front porch in the rocking chair, smiling and nodding wisely to everyone that comes by.

If the Disney Powers that Be would just listen to us ol' grayheads, we could save them a lot of grief. :listen:

I remember that - I hated it! My dad would sprint off of the monorail, leaving us in the dust, all for a Coral Reef reservation. :confused3 The current way is one thing that I can get off my rocking chair about and say "What an improvement!!" :cheer2:

I remember those! I also remember the Catwalk Bar, Fireworks Factory, when CA Grill was a place called Top of The World and when Chef Mickey's was at DTD. My hair isn't gray, but regular trips to the hair salon probably help with that. Actually, I am not even sure what my real haircolor is now. :confused3

:lmao: :lmao:

Guilty here as well.

BTW you explained the old situation in SE much better than I. Thanks.

And (waxing nostalgic) - the Papeete Bay Veranda (now 'Ohana); Tangaroa Terrace (the original home of Tonga toast); the Empress Lily (now Fultons, but back then included Fisherman's Deck, Steersman's Quarters, and the oh-so-elegant Empress Room); Pueblo Room at the CR (and also the Gulf Coast Room at the CR, too - our first meal as husband & wife); the Lake Buena Vista Club ... the list could go on.

Where will we be eating in 20 years?

I remember as well. I thought it was so cool to use those to make reservations. We always planned where we were going to eat in World Showcase. I remember thinking it was so high tech at the time.

I remember my parents going to Top of the World. I remember walking though the Catwalk bar, but not having anything (I think I was too young). I remember going to Chef Mickey's in DTD. I think I had a calzone. Didn't it use to be more of an Italian counter service place.

I also remember eating in the Fireworks Factory (my cousin used to work there). There also used to be a restaurant in the country/western bar at PI, but I cannot remember the name. I know I ate there on my honeymoon. Alas, much like my dining partner that night, the club and restaurant are now gone ;)

There was Minnie's Pizzaria at DTD once, I think. Eons ago, there was a Village Restaurant, sorta upscale, and a Heidelberg's Deli.

Wasn't the club @ DTD called the Neon Armadillo? I don't remember it serving full meals. Of course, I have to deal with early onset dementia.

When they closed the neon armadillo they opned a wyld Stallion saloon or something like that where the fireworks factory used to be.

Oh, we did too. Lunch at Narcoosee's was a must do for us each trip for many years. CG was open for lunch for a relatively short time I think but we enjoyed that as well. Boat to Narcoossee's or monorail to CG was a delightful way to end a MK morning.

I remember my Nonnie doing this several times on our trips. We thought it was so cool. :thumbsup2

Yes, that was also back in the days when WS opened at the same time as the rest of the park, so we could go over to Boulangerie Pastrie and have breakfast. Then around 1990, they changed the ressie process so that on-site guests had the privelege of making dining reservations in Epcot up to 3 whole days in advance. I remember calling from our Trailer Home in FW (they were Trailer Homes back then, not Cabins) for dining.
