Do you remember the Disney yellow ponchos?

I was reading a thread asking if you wear ponchos. It brought back memories of the "Disney Yellow Ponchos". I get a good chuckle when I recall those days of seeing a sea of yellow in the parks. With all the tremendous thought that goes into getting the details just right, before Disney does something, I have to wonder who stepped out of the room, for coffee, while the others made a quick decision. I'm glad that person came back into the room, after traveling down to the foothills of Brazil for their coffee (Albeit years later), made a command decision to change the ponchos to clear ones.



I know that this makes my daughter and I very happy. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away when she was six years old, we became separated in this sea of yellow unbeknownst to either of us. After going on about three rides, I realized that wasn't my daughter holding my hand, but some woman that got separated form her family. Anyway, we were able to make the swap. I got my daughter back and the woman was reunited with her own family. It just goes to show that this is, "The Happiest Place on Earth"...

I was talking to my mom about this just the other day. Our first ever family trip to Disneyworld there was a horrible thunderstorm. My mom and dad didn't want to miss out on any of the action so we bought ponchos and continued on! Keep in mind we were 3,5,6, and 10. (haha little did they know this would scar me for life, now I am an obsessive Disney fan rain or shine!) But I remember when we got home we would wear our ponchos around the house because we loved them so much cause they had Mickey on them! I asked my mom if she still had them, she didn't, but I wish she did! We have the clear ones now, but I miss those!

We still have three of the yellow ponchos. We have some clear ones as well. We will be taking at least one yellow poncho on this trip so that we can make sure that DMIL stays dry as well.

I think I need a new color. Lime Green would be good.

We still have ours. For some reason we had many because we would always forget to pack them the day we needed them.

we have one yellow one left....wore it two weeks ago today in the pouring rain on the way to the cali grill from wl. what an adventure that was! dd and ds have winnie the pooh yellow ones from the dollar store at home. we had a clear one from 5 years ago that became a rain cover for this trip and dh got a nice new one this trip.

a result of forgetting them one year, and making the "darn its raining, duck over to the nearest store and buy them" trick!

of course about 10 minutes after, it stops raining...

and then ten minutes after that, the rain evaporates and you get wet from the humidity!

We had yellow DLRP ones from our last trip. Anywere else id not wear yellow anything, but at Disney it doesnt matter

We still have and use our yellow ponchos from alot of years ago, and still just like new! Worth the money for the service they have given us! First thing we pack and unpack every trip, 43 of them trips so far.

I still have two that my husband & I purchased on our pre-children trip in 1995 and they're still in great shape! In fact, one of them is with my daughter right now in Washington DC. Looks like she'll need it tomorrow!
