Hi Simon! I'm writing here as we're getting desperate on the DLP board and all our appeals to you and Zarr aka Joe have gone unheeded. We're just wondering why you post so much on this board (and others) but totally ignore the DLP board which you are supposed to moderate. You've only posted 3 times in the last year on that board , the last time being August 2004 and Zarr aka Joe's has also only posted 3 times in the last year, which I think you'll agree isn't particularly attentive. The "stickies" are way out of date and all sorts of things need to be sorted out and updated. We had some unpleasantness on the board back in Februaury which we had to sort out ourselves (and did so pretty effectively!!). Apart from anything else we miss your expert knowledge!! I know you're very busy but you post a lot on other boards. If you haven't got the time and/or interest any more could someone else take over who'd be more interested in us?

Hi Diana

My apologies for this. I'm afraid I haven't been active at all on the DLP board as I am just so busy with orlando business right now. Our website setup and now the onset of work for the 2006 edition means I am pretty limited as to my Board time, so I tend to concentrate pretty exclusively on this Board. I am trying to get someone else to oversee things on the DLP board, but it is a question of finding the right person. Sorry to have missed the kerfuffle earlier this year but, by the time I got there, you did seem to have things pretty much in hand, so I decided to leave things in the hands of the regular posters. However, we do need to get more Moderator presence on that Board, and we will be trying to put that right in the near future.

Kind regards

Simon

Thanks for getting back to me so soon, Simon - I appreciate it. We know how busy you are but have been feeling more than a little neglected!! How do you recruit moderators? Some people are extremely active on the DLP board and may be willing to take on the role, if that is possible :sunny: .

Hi Diana - I see you're not giving up on this!!

Hi Simon - thanks for answering Diberry's thread. Glad to hear that life is going well, if very busy. So with that in mind, we wouldn't want to add to your burden with the DLP board!! So if we were to get a new moderater in the future, could we suggest people from the DLP board? It would be great to have someone who really uses that board, that everyone there knows well - absolutely no offence meant to yourself, of course! :)

Sorry if i sound dim , but what is the DLP board. Just being nosey.

I wish I could offer you a textbook version of how someone becomes a Moderator here. I would think all of the dozens of Mods here have a slightly different story. The position is usually offered by one of the webmasters, who monitor all the Boards and (I think) just look for people who have the right blend of knowledge, community spirit and desire to help. The existing Mods can alert them to situations like this where a Board has become rather 'neglected' but ultimately it is a WM decision to either move Mods around or appoint news ones. Hope that helps!

And :wave2: to magicmouse, too :teeth:

Thanks for the info Simon. I guessed that's how it probably worked. Hopefully, some day soon, the Webmasters will notice that we have some definite moderator material on the DLP board!!

BTW will you be updating your DLP guide anytime soon? Or doesn't it need to be updated as often as the WDW one?!!

Thought I would add my support for a moderator to DLP board.
You are right thought Simon that it is a good board and hopefully the moderator would therefore not have a particulary heavy workload.

We will be working on a new edition of DLP later this summer, hopefully for publication in the New Year. It will be insteresting to see how much detail they are changing as they finally seem to have got the message that people want to see more there.

Simon

I bought your Disneyland Paris (2005) book two weeks ago and thought that it already felt really out of date. We are going in October so the New Year will be too late. I will just have to check out the DLP board.

Have bought several of your Orlando books too. Keep up the good work!

Hi Susan,

Please do come over to the DLP board. It would be great to see you!

Karen

Hi Susan. Can you give me an idea of what feels out of date with the DLP book? There shouldn't be THAT much that is new since we wrote the last edition and it would be handy to have an idea of what we need to look at.

Thanks,

Simon

Simon, I have yet to visit DLP and was initially reluctant to do so, thinking it would be an anti-climax after WDW. However I changed my mind after reading your book and being won over by the DLP regulars.

I've now booked to visit DLP with my family in August and I will be using your book as our guide, along with all the helpful advice from the DLP board! As we will be complete "newbies" to DLP, if we feel there is anything that is not covered or feels drastically out of date, I will let you know on our return.

I will just mention that out of the books I have read on DLP, yours has the most "positive and enthusiastic" attitude.

Simon we didn't experience anything to speak of to be out of date, but our visit was Feb 2004 so I haven't been that recently.

Simon, read the book for last years trips and don't recall any points.

Of course it will be getting read in a few weeks as we could down 2 months till our next trip :sunny:

We used the book for our Nov 2004 trip and there was nothing out of date.
Only new things for 2005 as far as I know is Space Mountain mission 2 and that they are beginning to build ToT.

Simon

The book was great as are all your books. It was just little things like Indiana Jones backwards now going forwards and no mention of Space Mountain II.

I bought the book for a friend who has never been and she is enjoying reading it.

Look forward to your new books

Susan
