We plan on eating there. I prefer not to have a lot of ps b/c of rushing to get places at certain times, etc. But if the wait is going to be 2 hours, it may be worth it. Any advice? And is it slower at certain times of the day? Thanks! :sunny:

Alway better to have one and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Yes you need one. You can make PS when you come into the Park at Guest services for later in the Day. Even with a PS you can have a wait.

I say definatly get one. We go in July and every time we have eaten at the Sci-Fi I see people getting turned away for no priority seating. It is better to have one that you miss than not get to eat where you want.

:sunny: Hi

If its a must to eat at Sci Fi for you I would make a PS. When we went in November we were told that all the car tables were reserved all day, you could still get an ordinary table but it's not quite the same. The silly thing is on our 1st trip to WDW in 2002 we walked staight into Sci Fi and got a car table without a PS ( I didn't know what one was at the time !)and that was July 4th. You never can tell.

Have a great time. :cheer2:

Last year, we did not have a PS for Sci-Fi, but the walk-in wait time was an hour. Let me warn you, though: the drive-in atmosphere was really cool, and the old movie clips were funny. The food left a lot to be desired and was very expensive for what we got. Don't let my opinion deter you from going; I just thought that I would offer it to you. :scratchin

Thanks- I've heard the food was so-so. We're mostly going to entertain ds4, who's no culinary professional by any means and won't know the difference. :rotfl: I'll be calling here soon to make my ps.

We have eaten there twice for lunch, both times in a car with a PS. The cars are really cool bot keep in mind the seating is front and back, kids usually sit in the front. The ledge for your food is a little shallow too, but it's a really fun experience. The burgers are quite tasty and large. DD7 liked the grilled chicken with roasted potatoes and green beans off the kids menu while DD9 get the burger. With the DDE card it costs us the same as counter service for a family of four.

We eat at the Sci-Fi each trip, with PS for right after the parade. We parade watch at Star Tours, and once it is over we head in to Sci-Fi.

You would think this would be a slow time, around 4:00 and the parade still going on in the park, since it starts right at Star Tours. And yet, each time, we have heard the CMs telling folks they have no available seating except the picnic tables for drop-ins.

We always get dessert as our "meal" and it is always good.

Here are a few pics from Dec. You can see how small the "table" part is from these:

Yes! By all means make a PS. We went once in the off season and didnt think we would have any problems getting in but we did. Couldnt get it, said they werent taking any walk ups, only those with ps.

So when I call to make my PS, I ask for a car?

That's what I plan on doing- why go if you can't sit in a car? ;)

Pretty much most of the tables are cars. We have never ask specifically for a car but have always gotten one. I think the tables that arent cars are for people who cant sit in the cars.

We have never requested a car. The only time we were not given a car is when we walked up with no PS. Beware. During EMH evenings there were no PS available at MGM. We called and checked Guest Relations when we got to AK. No luck. We went to Guest Relations when we arrived at MGM to see if they could help and, after showing a resort ID, we were given 8:30 pm PS.

The meal was very good. I was surprised after reviews. My kids had the burgers. I had soup and salad. My DH had catfish. His was excellent. And we know catfish. Had a cornmeal batter with a little spice to it.

My DD 11 had her birthday pin on and they made a really big deal of her birthday with a scrumptious sundae!

I think the Sci-FI is great. We always eat lunch when we stay all day at MGM. When we go we ussually have 12:30 PS and the wait is ussually an hour by then. As for the PS, better safe than sorry.

Have been a few times and were lucky never needed them. Not my favorite but my kids love it.

Yes, but you can probably get in without as long as you go off hours (before 11:30 or after 1:30)

We were there last June for the last Sunday of SSW and they were turning walk-ins away. I would make one. It's FUN!! We all loved it last year. Can't wait!!
