Do you read romance? I need a new Series to read!

I have to add another :thumbsup2 for Diana Gabaldon's books. Like the others, I am so in love with Jamie Frazier. :love: :lmao: .

I just bought A Breath of Snow and Ashes (the latest in the series) to take on our vacation.

It's been killing me to not pick it up and read it now, but, if I do, it'll be finished before we go.

My all time favorite series of books is written by Diana Gabaldon. These can be quite addictive. I have read the series several times. They are quite thick, which is always a plus to me.

Outlander
Dragonfly in Amber
Voyager
Drums of Autumn
The Fiery Cross
A Breath of Snow and Ashes

i completely agree. these books are very addicting!!! when i start a new one i can't put it down and yes, they are very thick!

The "highlander" series by Karen Marie Moning

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome.

The men in those books are so hot, yum.

My favorite romance author is Suzanne Brockmann..her series started out as I think Silhouette romances, but all the later ones are first issued in hardcover. LOVE her stuff!

Thanks for all the ideas-I'm writing a bunch down!
I'll maybe give Diana Gabaldon another try, I got Outlander years ago but couldn't get itnto it, I found it boring.

Not exactly historical but I loved the Debbie Macomber Cedar Cove series. :thumbsup2

Barbara Taylor Bradford has a series that isn't necessarily historical but begins in the early 1900's and that latest in the series is thru current times. I really enjoyed these books. They are a mix of romance and drama. The series goes as follows:

A Woman of Substance

Hold the Dream

To Be the Best

Emma's Secret

Unexpected Blessings

Just Rewards

If you didn't get to, or a little ways past, the point where Claire passes through the stones in Outlander, you should consider giving it another try! The time travel aspect is definitely a different twist in Gabaldon's books and it is very well done.

The earlier books are set mostly in Scotland. In the later books, the characters are in North Carolina during the time leading up to the Revolutionary War, so they have a historical flavor too.

You've convinced me, I'm going to go to the library later. :thumbsup2

Not sure if you would consider it historical, but I have been reading Richard Paul Evans books. I just love them.

I go back and forth between historical and current romance fiction. I love love love Amanda Quick. Stella Cameron is another favorite and she has a series that entertwines people that live in the same townhouse; All Smiles, Just Adam, and a few more that I can't remember.

Breezy_Carol how cool that you know Mary Jo Putney. I love her books and actually wrote her a letter in my younger days telling her what a fan I was. She replied with a very sweet note and I have never forgotten. Not only is she a great writer but a true class act.

If you like current fiction I have a found a few authors that I can't wait to get my hands on their latest books. Jennifer Crusie is my favorite. Hilarious! Plus she is from my area so many of her books have local places which is a lot of fun. If you like NASCAR check out Pamela Britton. She has two Nascar books that are a lot of fun. I picked up Nerd in Shining Armor by Vicki Lewis Thompson as a light vacation read and laughed so hard. She also has The Nerd Who Loved Me.

robinb I will have to check that site out. My parents own a used bookstore so I have had access to free books most of my life and it is so hard to pay retail for them. There are few authors who I will buy at the store, and all of those I listed above are it. Maybe I should just visit my parents more often. :blush:

I recently was turned on to a new author of historical fiction. Her name and website is Gaelen Foley.

There are seven books in the Knight Miscellany:
* The Duke
* Lord of Fire
* Lord of Ice
* Lady of Desire
* Devil Takes A Bride
* One Night of Sin
* His Wicked Kiss

So far I have only read two from this series, but I really enjoyed them.

I am glad someone mentioned Amanda Quick, I just love her books. Her heroines are so spunky and speak up for themselves. I used to love the Johanna Lindsey books, but really her heroines are all doormats.

Kinddom of Dreams by Judith McNaught is one of my all time favorites.

Nora Roberts, gotta love her

Christine Feehan if you are willing to go a little occult.

Another vote for Gabaldon's books. I would happily step through the stones myself for a chance to meet Jamie Fraser. ;) I was just thinking this afternoon that I might pick up Outlander and start the series again (for about the fifth time). A warning, though, it'll make you want to visit Scotland, for sure!

I liked the "Love Comes Softly" movies on cable recently. Has anyone read the books? Are they good?

Yes I really enjoy them, although different from the movies both are great in their own media. There are 8 books in the Love Comes Softly series then 4 more in the A Prairie Legacy series which is about the future generations.
I've gotten a friend hooked on them and she keeps rushing me along ;) so she can read the next book, I'm on the last book of the 12 now.

My all time fave seris is by Sandra Brown
Texas Lucky
Texas Chase
Texas Sage

I have to tell you I nearly choked on my tea when I read this! :surfweb:

I absolutely love Lynn Kurland's books. They are historical romances with time travel - sometimes the heroine and other times the hero travel back. She has two "families" in her books...one is based in England and the other Scotland. Each book has a connection to the previous ones. In one it's the original heroine's brother coming back in the next as the hero...others are best friends/cousins/siblings/descendants of previous heroes/heroines. She has "family trees" at the end of each book to see how they all fit together.

You can jump in at any time and not be lost...each is a fantastic story in and of itself, but if you've read the whole group, they are even more fun.

The heroes are very attractive and masculine and funny, and they generally are very arrogant and flawed, but the heroine tends to take this characteristic and make it fun. Lynn Kurland's writing style is extremely entertaining and VERY funny...! A few of her books are also very touching and beautiful.

They are definitely primarily romantic, but there is usually an adventure running through them with a villain.

My favorites, anyway :thumbsup2
