Do you re-wear your clothes in Disney?

Like hippiechickadee, I simply don't own as many clothes as most here are talking about taking.

Whether on vacation or not, I do laundry every week and even then it almost always involves wearing "bottoms" more than once.

I have a hard enough time spending time and money shopping for the clothes I do have, if I thought I had to shop more I'd just go to a uniform and buy a bunch of the same thing. More shopping = just kill me now!

Pre-kids I said I would NEVER do laundry on vacation :snooty:

We are DVC and usually stay in a one bedroom so I do like others and use the machine as a hamper and when it is full we run it (usually every other day). I also wash everything the last night so we are bringing home clean clothes. Especially with the heat and baby spit up, etc it is so nasty bringing all that laundry home to deal with.

On the few occassions when we don't stay DVC or stay in a studio I just make it a point to do laundry once or twice during our stay. It really is no big deal, they are usually near the pools anyway and since there are a bunch of machines you can do multiple loads at once.

ETA: I personally do not own that much casual clothing as others do so unless I want to buy a bunch of stuff I just save my money for other things and do laundry.

Another laundry do-er.

Doing laundry at WDW is not even close to the same as home...It is way more enjoyable! Basically you're hanging out at the pool and take a quick 5 minutes to stop in the laundry room and then back out to the pool. OR usually I meet some fun people in there and we get to chattign and my dh is used to me being in there for awhile since I make friends. THen while the kids get out of the pool and get into the shower - dh will go back and transfer to dryer and one of us goes to grab them right before bed.

It is SOOOO much nicer, for me at least, than packing all that. I love having fewer suitcases and 'stuff' to worry about on the travel days and honestly packing is so much quicker for me now - since I usually only bring 5 or so outfits plus a couple extra t-shirts and then do 1 - 2 loads of laundry while we're there.

Honestly I don't think I could go in the summer without doing laundry - Not sure that everyone in my family has 8 - 10 outfits (that are light weight/cool enough and comfortable enough, etc.) during most summers. Usually my kids prefer acouple pairs of shorts - it's nice to get a couple wears out of them while we're there.

i agree-however-for us it's in a villa-not by the pool. :)

i absolutely love the top loader washing machines and big dryers in florida-we are from the u.k-
it's a total joy doing laundry-not a chore like here at all :laundy:

happy to know i'm not alone in my enjoyment of wash time! :rotfl:

We tend to count on doing a load of laundry depending on the length of the trip but I wouldnt pack more than one change per day plus one extra.

I am a total over packer and completely ok with it. We fly SW so checking luggage is not a problem. I pack 2 outfits per person per day plus a couple extra. We break midday for showers and rest and put on new outfits. I did have a few extras no one wore last trip. But did use a couple of the extras when the baby piled all over herself and dh.

I would rather do 7 loads when I get home vs. even one load while on vacation. I may cut down on pajamas this trip though, one per night was excessive for the kids. We checked 1 lg, 1 med 1 carry on, and 2 small duffels. That was clothes, shoes, toiletries, stuffed animals, and some food stuffs for 4.

Wow, I am completely shocked that you all take time out to do wash! I guess if you are there for a longer time I would understand but we are only there for 6-7 nights. We don't take naps/breaks during the day so unless someone has a spill or major mess we have no reason to go back and change.

We take enough outfits for each day plus a few extra shirts, underwear & socks.

What we do rewear are pajamas and any warmer clothes. We usually go in June so I usually only take one sweatshirt for cooler nights and resturants. We also might rewear our travel clothes...oh and our swimsuits.

When we stay for 7 nights or less, I don't do laundry. But 8 nights or longer, I'll do a load or two midway through the trip. But we usually go in the hotter months and we often take a mid-day break during which I'll take a shower and put on fresh clothes. We do rewear pajamas, but not our park clothes. I don't have enough shorts to make it through a 10 day trip without doing laundry.

I've been looking at some packing threads for ideas on how to cut down on my packing. I am a chronic overpacker. However, I don't get how people only bring for example 8 tops & 4 bottoms for an 8 day trip to Disney (assuming they are not planning to do laundry). I find that I feel so gross after a day in the parks, I can't wait to take off my dirty clothes & take a shower. I can't even imagine putting those same clothes on again another day. I guess that's why we never take afternoon breaks. I would feel like everyone would have to shower & put on clean clothes before we head out again. I certainly wouldn't lay down in bed for a nap in my clothes from the park.

How do other people handle this? Am I just a clean freak? I'm already planning to bring at least 7 outfits each for our 5 day trip.

We,my hubby and Dumbo me,travel a month across the US with just one normal suitcase.
I do pack 30 undies for each of us :rotfl: but for the rest? We NEVER wear the same things twice.
We book hotels,so no motels, that have a coin laundry. Every two or three days I schlep my dirty undies and the rest to the laundry room.
I always arrive home, Europe with ONE set of dirty clothes. :dance3:
O and I have to confess I hate the US detergent. It smells like Pxxxx and it does not clean at all. Could be the washing methods. No pre wash,no time to soak just a hasty washing.
I always "smuggle" my own detergent across the ocean.:rotfl2:

We do not rewear. I prefer to pack a different outfit for each day plus one extra in case we get soaked and want to come back and dry off. If we had a room with washer/dryer I wouldn't mind washing at Disney. Otherwise, I just don't want to take the time. We drive, so space isn't an issue. I am a minimal packer as far as everything else is concerned.

No I don't wear clothes again...unless it's a hoodie or something that only gets worn sparingly.

I always pack lightly do a load or two of laundry in the middle of the trip. I actually find it relaxing. I usually take a book and just get some down time away from the busy day. Plus it just feels good to bring clean, fresh-smelling, folded clothes back to my room.

Our trips are usually 10 days and we take 4 outfits each and do laundry twice. We wash mid week and then again before we come home - I don't like bringing dirty clothes home and this forces us to have atleast one morning or mid-day break during the trip.

We do re-wear bottoms once unless they are smelly. I usually take 2 pair of shorts and 2 capris - last trip I never wore the shorts so each pair of capris were worn twice and then washed. Shirts (and undies and socks) are changed daily. We take 2 pair of pjs each as well.

There are 5 of us - I don't want to wash 50 outfits or more plus socks, undies and pjs when we get home. That's enough to make me not want to go in the first place.

We don't re-wear. We usually go in August and we go for 2 weeks. We change into fresh clothes midday and I do laundry a few times. We takes breaks and throw the clothes in the washer/dryer while we spend time in the pool. Works for us.

I'm a minimalist packer. We are renting a home with a washer & dryer so I figure every night the clothes that were worn to the parks will be thrown in the wash that night & worn 2-3 days later. The only one who probably won't do that is my DD who is insisting on a different outfit for every day at the Parks. I'll just wash her stuff too & she can pack it away for the trip home.
I've found traveling so much nicer when we have 4 carry-ons, our personal item (usually 1 day bag) & 1 large bag to check. No one feels overburdened & we can pack up & move much more quickly.

At home I'm always changing in/out tops - I'm a woman, can't make up my mind! :rotfl2: So on vacation I try not to overpack.

If no access, or not inclined to do laundry.
I pack 1 extra top, but will wear my bottoms for 2-3 days (generally half the number of vacation days). For the kids I'll pack 2 extra outfits (2 girls under 5).

If staying with family/laundry
Will pack enough clothes for half trip, and do laundry mid-way.

Clothes you can layer and that are versatile (wear a hoodie on the plane) are our go-to items.

For a winter visit, I might wear my jeans 2x, but I always bring enough clean shirts to get through the week. However, when we went in September this year we didn't repeat anything since it was so hot and sticky every day. Upon coming into our room for a rest each day, I always pull on lounge pants or sweats because I don't like park clothes in the beds.

We usually go for 10+ days. We pack enough clothes for one per day until laundry day and then run out on our last day. For only 6/7 days we would not do laundry. I am lucky and my DH will do the laundry for us. We make that day a slow day and do laundry after breakfast.

I cannot even imagine wearing something twice in WDW. You are in and out of rides all day putting your behind everywhere and it is hot. Everyone's body sweats. Just the thought makes me gag. :faint: I pack enough for everyone for the whole trip but we usually do laundry half way through and maybe at the end. We usually for for 10-14 days.

Though we're normally away for 10 nights, 7 nights would be pushing it with young kids without laundry for us. We don't take naps/breaks either. But we do make sure to get back to the room at a reasonable hour for bedtime since I don't have stroller nappers. We stay in one hotel room - so it's tough for the adults to stay up and do anything with the kids in the room - so one can go do laundry. Also, we normally have an off day, and that makes it very easy to work in as well.
