Do you re-gift?

In my line of work, (parish office), members think they need to give me a present. It is usually these boxes of chocolate caramels. These boxes go for almost $30. I usually regift them.

My mom is the biggest re-gifter. I gave my mom some gift cards last Christmas. My sister said, you just gave her everyone's birthday gift for the year.

In September for my birthday, I received the $20 Walgreens card I gave her. How do I know, I saw the $20 I wrote on it with a black marker.

My mom has to be the hardest person to shop for. She takes back everything, or she regifts her presents.

Do you feel guilt?

I re-gift without shame.

YES! And getting the stupid presents has STOPPED for me.

This is what you have to do......When someone gives you a useless/dumb present that NO thought was ever put into....SAVE IT! Then the following Christmas..wrap it and give it back to the person who gave it too you. Along with the sentiment, "I loved this gift so much, that I want you too have and experience one too!!!!!!":thumbsup2

Before ya know it....The DUMB presents Stop coming to you!:yay: :yay: :yay:

I think if it is a nice gift and you don't give it to someone connected to the person who gave it to you, it is okay to re-gift. I have a shelf full of gifts from my aunt and uncle in my basement that I would love to get rid of, but I don't know anyone else who would want/ could use them. Only one of their gifts was nice enough to re-gift - a glass photo cube that I couldn't use because I have a house full of clumsy animals. I re-gifted it to DH's grandma with photos of my son and his cousins. She loved it.

I've never had in the past, but this year I am. Got a few items from DH's co-workers that we will never use, so I'm doing a re-gift for some of my co-workers that I know will get some use out of them. What I did was take the 4 coffee cups and gave them to 4 different people with a pair of socks and some hot choc and a candy cane. The snack bowl I'm giving with some dip and chips to a friend since she always has a big crowd over on the holidays.

I regift all the time. I feel no shame. And I wouldn't mind if someone regifted to me as long as I wanted/needed the gift.

I don't regift crap (I save that for white elephants).

I am very careful not to regift to someone who is any way close to the original giver. But I see no reason not to give a great gift to someone who will appreciate it. For example, last year I got a Longaberger baking dish. I will never us this, but I have a friend who would love it, so she got it for her birthday this year. I think it's overly-proud to refuse to regift under the notion of being cheap. I look at it as someone just gave me money to spend on a gift for someone else, so why not?

Yes, usually nice UNUSED, UNOPENED yankee candles.

There are very few scents that I like, so I regift the ones that I get that I do not like that others do. In fact, I really don't care for Yankee candles.

I prefer a now defunct company (Susquehanna Candle) that had a scent called Green tea that I loved. Stocked up on those "little powerhouse" candles at the grocery when they went half price.

I do but I fret the whole time that I am going to get nabbed somehow.

I re-gift, but I always carefully inspect the gift and re-wrap it to make sure there are no "interior gift tags" or notes or dirty diapers (just kidding, JunieJay - that was a truly disgusting tale BTW) for the new recipient to find.
I am trying to train people to give me either a gift card or, if they must give me a gift to open, include a gift receipt. Grandma is starting to get it, but she has horrible relapses.

I got two 25.00 Olive Garden gift certificates for my birthday this year and I am re-gifting them to each of the teachers for my kids in a little gift basket. I dont think they will mind.

I do have to say I have wondered for years whether or not the woman who regifted me the dirty diaper genie got it as a regift herself? She definately did not seem the type to do something like that. I think someone gave it to her like that, she never looked in the box and regifted to me. And stupid me never looked in the box before I tried bringing it back to the store. Not that I would have expected what I found. :lmao:

Some GCs have are reduced by an amount every month. So a card one gets for Christmas could be worth half by the time it is re gifted. I wonder what the recipient thinks of that.

I regift any chance I can. Always stuff that was never used/opened, though. I'm sure I've been a "victim" of regifting many times. :lmao:

No. I wouldn't feel right doing that. I do keep a couple of generic gifts on hand, but I don't even like doing that, really.

The Today show has Joan Rivers on (I am not a fan of hers) and she admits to re-gifting. The show said that 58% of all american's re-gift. Joan was giving pointers on how to re-gift.
