Do YOU pronounce the "H"?

I pronounce the H...I'm a transplant to this area...

Another good PA Dutch girl here :) I say all sorts of things wrong. My bf cringes all the time!!

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be a bout do you pronounce the H in the word herbs. Martha Stewart does, and it grates on me!!!

The only time I pronounce the H in that word is if it's someone's name or discussing the musical duo Peaches and Herb. :)

I'm from FL-- we don't pronounce in H.

More importantly, do you pronounce the S in Illinois? I'm from IL, and it's a big no-no, but I've come across way too many people who do. "oh, you're from I-L-L-I- NOISE, huh?"

Ugh, I'm from IL too and I HATE it when people say Illi-noise! :headache: Or when we're at WDW and someone asks us where we're from, we'll say "IL" and they'll say "Oh Chicago?" There's more to IL than Chicago!

:rotfl2:
Everywhere I have lived (TX and OK), it's pronounced vee-hickle. The h is pronounced, and there might be a minor emphasis on the "vee" part, or maybe no emphasis on any syllable.

But then, I was born and raised in Texas, and I am of the no "H" school. :confused3 But I know how to pronounce Refugio.

I am from Milwaukee, and I always hear our neighbors to the south being referred to as "Illinois" with the first letter sounding like L. It sounds funny to me.....Anyone else say the word Illinois like this???
