and why? i'm just curious -- the gravel path seemed more dangerous to me, you know rolling out my ankles, tripping, etc. But i'm clumsy :)

the paved path I'm sure is harder on the joints?

what do you think?

I prefer gravel or, if I can, grass/dirt. I like dirt the best because it's forgiving to my knees and feet. Since pavement is totally unyielding, I find I tire out faster because my joints start to ache.

I do like gravel, though, because of the wobblyness you mentioned. I find if there's a danger I'm going to 'wipe out', I have to pay more attention to my balance. So I figure I'm working on stability and ankle strength at the same time. Two (or more) exercises in one is always a 'woo hoo!' for me. :)

I much prefer pavement, I like the smooth surface so I don't have to worry about tripping over anything.

Paved... the gravel is just too uneven - tend to twist my ankles in gravel and loose sand.
