Do you play a musical instrument?

I used to play the clarinet in HS, and I'm trying to learn guitar along with my dd. My dh played brass in HS, in fact his goal was to become a music teacher. Firefighting took him in a different direction, and now he plays the bagpipes and is a member of the North County San Diego Firefighters Pipes & Drums.

Piano since age 4, I've always wanted to play the violin.

I'm a orchestra teacher by trade, currently a SAHM. I've been palying violin for 30 years, professionally for 20 years- teach privately and perform in orchestras, quartets, chamber emsembles.

DH is a high school band director, professional percussionist.

I began playing flute in the 4th grade. Continued through college, took a few years off, and now play in a community orchestra.

Throughout my schooling, I also played piccolo, alto sax, a little piano, and a short stint of playing bassoon.

there was this one time ... at band camp .... :rotfl2:

clarinet here and i played alto sax for awhile. big time band geek! as friends say that explains so much about me! :rotfl2:
DH plays guitar and sometimes even gets paid for playing

The piano... Badly! and even after years of lessons.

My son got the musical talent. He can play the trumpet and taught himself how to play the guitar. He was OK on the horn but his guitar playing is really good.

Though my day job is as a Software Development Manager, my undergrad degree is in music and I am a semi-professional woodwind player nights and weekends (Clarinet, Oboe, Sax, Flute). I also teach privately and help run "sectionals" and such for a H.S. Orchestra and a regional youth Orchestra. Wish I could afford to do it full time!

When I was a kid I had the choice of taking accordian lessons or guitar lessons. I chose the accoridian (I still have it!) Then when I was a teenager I started taking guitar lessons.

I've played clarinet since I was 10. I played trombone in the 8th grade jazz band too. (Learned in two weeks! Not to toot my own horn or anything ;) :rotfl: )

I have an honours degree in music so play quite a few instruments. Trumpet is my first instrument and my favourite. I also play clarinet, flute (which I learned in 2 hours when I was bored one afternoon at school when I had a free lesson!) and a few medievil musical instruments which people generally haven't heard of!! I learned the piano too but am useless at it!
My husband plays the violin, bass, guitar and piano. We joke that between the 2 of us we practically have a whole orchestra covered!

I play tuba in the Deer Park Community band. I have a St. Petersburg tuba and an old Martin.

Well, I don't have any musical ability at all :( But... my DH plays guitar and sings, DS1 plays the bass, the guitar and sings, and DS2 plays drums and sings some also.

Both the boys have punk bands. DH and my oldest play in the worship band at church every Sunday. DS2 plays with the youth worship team.

My kids obviously get their musical talent from their father

My DH can play piano and dabbles a bit on the guitar
My son has been plaing the oboe for three years.

I did some percussion in HS and College band and tried the flute in 5th grade. I got into choir in 6th grade and I still sing with various groups to this day.
