Do you plan your CS's or Wing it?

How Do You Handle Your CS Meals?

  • I plan everything down to the very last detail, including all of my TS and CS meals.

  • I plan all of my TS meals, but only a few of my CS. The rest, I play by ear.

  • I only plan my TS meals.

  • Plan meals in advance? What are you, kidding me? I don't even know where I'll be tomorrow!

:cool1: So I've been reading a lot in prep for our September trip, and I've noticed that a bunch of people plan not only their ADR's well in advance, but also plan out the CS meals...

I'm typically a pretty....ummm.....highly prepared person, if you know what I mean, but I haven't gotten to that point.

What do you do?:cool1:

As I think about it, I probably ought to move this over to the Dining Plan forum. How do I do that?????

I don't make firm plans for CS. Usually I have it in the back of my mind where we most likely will eat but then go with the flow.

For our Sept trip, I've picked out a few CS places I want to go, like Sunshine in Epcot, Flametree in AK, and maybe the Noodle Station in MK. Plus, we're staying at CSR, so the Pepper Market should be interesting. I like the idea of prime rib on our arrival night using a CS!!

I don't PLAN the counter service, but I do know the menus of each restaurant pretty well and know which suck and which I am happy eating at.

Like, at Epcot, I'd be sad to eat at Cantina (blech) and then come across Tangierine Cafe 20 minutes later and realize I could have eaten decent food instead.

We sometimes will decide that morning where we want to have lunch and plan our touring around that so we're on that side of the park when it's lunch time.

I always plan out my TS and book the ADRs well in advance. I do plan out the CS to a certain degree. I try to figure out what rides/attractions we're doing and in what order; therefore, I know what CS options are available to us.

I voted for Plan meals in advance? What are you, kidding me? I don't even know where I'll be tomorrow! Since my family and I don't like to make ADR's 180 days out we never purchase the DDP and a lot of times we make a last minute change about something while in WDW. As for counter service locations when we are in the parks we don't say what specific time we would go there for lunch, however we usually go after 11:00 AM because that is when they would be less busy.

I know going in I MUST go to Cosmic Ray's and Flametree. I'm pretty sure of Pecos Bill. And I want to try Wolfgang Puck, but don't know if I will, but at Epcot, it's what do I want. And Aimeedyan got it backward, at least for me. I ove Cantina, but would starve before eating at Morocco. But where in MGM I don't have a clue.

I don't plan meals at all. We're not interested in TS meals right now, and where we eat CS depends on where we are in the park, what folks want to eat, etc. The times I've tried to plan at CS meal, we were either in the wrong area or everybody wanted something different. :goodvibes

We plan it all. But that doesn't mean we won't change once we are in the park...I just want to make sure I am covered in case we need an emergency stop. I won't need to grab my map and search out a CS for a break.

Last year we just decided where to go depending on when we were hungry and where we were.

This year I have looked over the menus and have some idea's of where may suit our family better, so I may try and do it that way.

For our September trip, I made ADR's for dinner every night, but since our touring plan is still somewhat up in the air, I just printed out the menus for the CS places we are most likely to want. (There are some CS that we know from previous experience that we would NEVER want) When lunchtime rolls around, we can decide where to eat depending on our location in the park and which menu appeals most at the moment!:thumbsup2

I'm the same way. I never plan out my CS, since I can never predict exactly what area of the park we will be in when someone gets hungry. We usually just eat at the nearest CS so that our park plans aren't impacted too much.

But I do have my favorite spots to eat at each park, and I try to eat there whenever possible.

that is my thoughts too. I know where I want to go but sometimes it is where hunger strikes you or the kids.

We have our CS favorites that we do pretty much every trip -- like Casey's Hot Dogs and Cosmic Ray's -- but by and large we only plan our TS meals for the purposes of scoring ADRs.

I don't necessarily plan CS's out, well maybe I do, but only to the extent that I make myself very familiar with the menus of the CS's. That way, I know ahead of time where I would enjoy eating in each park. I would be really annoyed to just randomly drop in at a CS and have icky food. I would rather know ahead of time that X restaurant has food DH would like, or X restaurant has yummy desserts, etc... even if I have to walk aways to get to it.

We always plan our TS meals. As for CS, I have an "idea" of where we want to eat, and check out the menus online at this website and allearsnet.com to get an idea what each CS restaurant serves. Anyone have good suggestions as what CS are good at MGM? We've always eaten lunch at Prime Time, but since we are on the DDP this year, we're saving our TS for dinner. Our family of 4: me:banana: , DH:cool2: , DS 14 :woohoo: and DS 8 :cool1: are not picky eaters so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I don't have a set plan for our CS meals but I do have a list of places that we want to try and like the Menu's. From there it's just play it by ear.

We are going at the end of August for Free Dining. We have our ADR's all set, but I have no idea what we're doing for the CS meals. We are just going to wing it. :goodvibes
