Do you plan trips for others?

I have a friend going the same time as us, not with, just the same time. All they have are airline tickets and their hotel.

We're about 80 days until we leave. I feel like I need to help, I'm begging them to at least make some ADR's.

Just wondering if anyone else helps friends or family with their trips?

I offer to help and if they take me up on the offer, I give them a choice of what type of planning they want. Some just want a quick overview of things but I have spent up to 2 or 3 evenings with some helping them to plan some of the aspects of their trip. I always tell them to go to disboards.com. That way they can get as detailed as they wish.
I do not make reservations for people, just give them information, that way if there is a mix-up, it is out of my hands!

Yes. I help people all the time.

My neighbor went over July 4. She had no idea you had to make ADR for character meals. She was just going to walk up to Chef Mickey and eat.

My husband's coworker is going in Sept since I told them about free dining.

I've had friends of friends call asking for advice about WDW. Many people want to have the perfect vacation, but don't want to read up on what to do. They don't realize WDW is that big and has that many attractions and restaurants. They just book a trip and go.

Yes, I am always giving advice on what to see and "Did you know ...."

Right now I am helping my coworker plan her January trip with her DH and DS5! You know gathering tips, asking others what books are good, making ADRs etc...

Definately a good idea to help if you can. Especially about ADRs, etc... I got ALL my good ideas for my first trip from these boards. I was SOOOO happy to find them.

I would have gone hungry, had hurting feet, and not have known about lanyards or pressed pennies if not for these boards -- :thumbsup2

So, if you can -- pass on your experience! Good Luck!

No, I only plan my own solo trips to WDW these days.

However, I used to plan the annual senior trip for the high school I taught at for thirty years.

This involved a two day visit to Washington, DC, a day at Baltimore's Inner Harbour, and four nights at a New York City hotel. All attractions on that tour were always pre planned, and of course, all reservations and tickets purchased ahead of time. Usually we had about 80 to 100 high school seniors going along, and I included an adult chaperone for each 10 students.

This took plenty of planning. Making my personal plans for a solo visit to WDW is easy after the NYC trips.

Enjoy.

Yes. I don't try to force myself upon people who don't want help (unless you count things I've said on the DIS). Some people just like to make their own 'mistakes.' :rotfl2:

If you have a group going together it make sense to have a coordinator. That way you avoid mix-ups. Also, if one person has everything together, it makes it easier to make changes in the event of an emergency or something. (I once had an airline cancel a flight, so knowing all the flight times helped me to pick the best alternate flight.)

I've recently read several articles with horrible advice and incorrect information. One was a travel magazine that was clearly geared towards getting people to spend extra money on their trip.

Yes, I help my friends plan, and they are greatful for the help. Everytime I help, I continue to find and learn new things as well.
:thumbsup2

Yep I sure do! I absolutely love it! Everyone knows who to turn to for help in this area of Virginia. lol

Yes indeed. I tell everyone who will listen. :rotfl: :rotfl2: :cool1:
Me too, especially at work. EVERYONE knows to come to me for the Codes/what hotel/ and what park to see and do! :thumbsup2 I give out Manilla Envelopes with Maps/Hotel/ and Resteraunt info. ;)

Guess how my upcoming trip came about?!?!? :rotfl:

My friends and former coworkers are always coming to me for advice/help in planning their Disney trips...... last March, I had 2 different friends call within 24 hours of each other asking my advice. I of course was putting together tons of links/info for them and the Disney bug bit me again (DH already told me we weren't going back til 10/07) but I sulked and got my way :rotfl: So..... we'll be there in 2.5 months :) because I was helping my friends book trips :rotfl:
