Do you pay attention to who's posting?

At first, I read the posts without really noticing, but the reality is that I do sort of take note who wrote them and "get to know" them by the sheer amount of time I spend on here. I sometimes wonder if people have "gotten to know" me the same way.

I usually do. Sometimes if it's a post like "What kind of laundry detergent to do you use?", I don't. But if it's something that I really care what individual people think about the topic, I do notice the poster. Sometimes I'm surprised that certain people agree with me because I already had them pegged as someone I'd never agree with on anything, so I'm glad in those cases that I've found something we can see eye-to-eye on.

::yes:: I know a lot of people a lot better than they think I do.

I definitly pay attention to who's posting because I have met so many wonderful people here on The Dis that I always enjoy conversing with them when I have the opportunity :flower: . Plus...I always want to meet new people and therefore I pay attention to get to know them too.

It depends. If the thread is REALLY long I usually don't even read all the responses. But most of the time I look to see who posted. I am familiar with quite a few DISers b/c they either a.) post a lot b.) start controversy and get threads closed continuously c.) have memorable signatures or screennames or d.) have something in common with me that I have talked to them on a thread about before. I have made a lot of online friends on the DIS. I will admit there are quite a few that a screenname may seem familiar but I don't notice them much. No offense to anyone with this type of screenname but if it is a bunch of initials followed by numbers I normally will not remember them. It just doesn't stand out to me.

I'm about 50-50, I read threads for their interest to me but if I especially agree or strongly disagree with a poster I note their sn. I also note which posters seem to be especially rude when they disagree with someone and avoid their posts. I don't want to get into a heated argument with someone I don't even know and that's the easiest way to avoid it.

It really depends. There is only one poster whose threads I avoid altogether, and can usually recognize their posts by the title of the thread.

I tend to associate folks by their avatar or something in their signature.

Not really. I haven't been on these boards very long, but I've been a long time member of several other boards and I have the same habit even on those boards where I've known the people for years.

I can have a nasty disagreement with someone from one thread and not even notice that it's the same person giving me the warm fuzzies in another. I don't let my ire carry over from thread to thread unless it starts to follow a pattern with that person and if it gets to that point I put them on mental ignore. So far, nobody is on mental ignore on the Dis. :goodvibes Although I might be on someone's mental ignore.... hmmmm. Now I'm curious. :scratchin

I tend to look at where they're from, rather than who it is. I'm just nosy if ther's anyone else in my neck of the world on here.

Jen

Me too.

I also know who has verbally attacked me in the past and I steer clear of any threads those people are highly active in. It's not that I'm chicken. It's just that they are people I'd rather avoid...like a least favorite relative or annoying coworker. (I don't want to use the ignore feature b/c then I'd miss out on all the opps to laugh at them.)

There are certain DISers that stand out in my mind but in general I don't pay attention to who's saying what on which threads.

I often miss the inside jokes and little mysteries that lots of others pick up on.

I usually take note of the poster, although I read every thread that interests me. There are some posters however that I tend to avoid and I don't respond on their threads because I've seen how nasty they can be to other posters. The same people just make me shake my head in wonder at some of the mean things they say to other people.

Overall, I find the DIS a wonderful place to spend time "talking" to other people. I've gotten some very good advice here and I try to help out others if I feel I have something to offer.

I will look at the poster if something they have posted is really funny or "way out".

Otherwise, there are a few I recognize, but I tend to just read the thread.

Us stalkers---er, lurkers ALWAYS remember posters. ;)

So true! :rotfl:

I always look at signature pictures...I love it when people update their sigs (of course, my DH only updates ours after we take a Disney trip...we're going to WDW in October, so we'll have a new signature soon!)

Amy :)

I don't pay attention to who posts what either. If it's a thread I'm interested in I'll open it, but rarely pay attention as to who started it. And I'll read the posts but rarely remember who posted what.

The other day I started a thread and one person made several (kind of rude) comments about other similar posts I've made. It kind of made me feel weird that she knew that much about my posts. :earseek:

Even with familiar posters I couldn't tell you what all they posted about, or what threads they started.

My sig must be a welcome change for you then, because it changes ALL the time. Every reload in fact. :)

Mostly do not take note of the posters name. Some post so often that it is hard not to notice their name. I do not notice if someone has not posted in awhile or where they hail from. I guess the content is what I find more interesting.

I sometimes notice who's posting, especially if it's something I really agree or disagree with. It's fun to notice different opinions in a wide range of topics. I'm new to this board, so I'm getting to know people through their posts.

I get confused by all the cinderella avatars...

I notice some of them, like Sparx's Camus quote, very cool.

I wish everyone would have things in their siggy that let you peek into their heads a little...
