My kids are 5 and 7 - we'll be in Disney for a week 10/8. Do you pack toys for the kids in the motel? Just wondering what to bring...

KC

we DID! ( well we had the stuff from the plane too)
BUT yes, there *ARE* downtimes, i would pack a few things~( my kids are 5 & 7 too!)

I packed toys but he never used most of them. I had brought a couple matchbox cars in his airplane bag and he drove them around the hotel before bed. I would say whatever they have in thier airplane bags is more than enough to play with in the hotel room.

We stayed in a private pool home rental and we did bring toys for our DS (18M at the time). It was a Godsend to have them since we all ended up VERY sick on our trip and DS had a LOT of downtime at 'home'. I don't think I'd pack too many for the older crowd - kids learn to amuse themselves as they get older (and yes, I am calling 5 older). Maybe take one absolute favorite toy (if it's of reasonable packing size) and a new surprise toy - possibly Disney themed for each kid.

We only pack coloring books and crayons for on the plane. At Disney, we are at the parks all day and only in the resort to sleep. We never have a need for toys at the hotel.

 hi I am 11, I liked it when my mom brought us things to do. we brought Uno, coloring books, word searches and for my db7 we brought my moms old black and gray gameboy and cars. At our condo their were board games to play. We also brought tons of books! :thumbsup2 All in all a few toys does the trick on a rainy day or when you need a break from vacation!!!! :goodvibes

I packed toys our last trip for my Ds 2. We drove, so he played with them in the car. But once there he cared less about the toys, we did but him new toys there, so the ones we brought were kind of useless.

I agree with you! We brought a few things in the plane bag and then at the hotel we were either sleeping or swimming! No need for extra toys.

We used to pack toys & they NEVER got played with....not even their hand-held video games. Now we don't pack anything like that.

I packed toys when my dd was 15 months & she never used them. We were in the park or she was napping/sleeping or swimming/playing in the sand at the Poly.

Last year the only toys that I packed were things for the plane & I think they colored once while waiting (they were 4 and 22 mo) but I didn't pack specific toys to play with & if I did they would not have been used even on our off day (that was the day they picked up their coloring book).

Yes!! I always pack toys. I particularly like My Little Ponies because they can be played in the plane/car, at the resort and in the bath. They are very versitile little toys.

I always pack things to keep them busy on the plane. Things like coloring books :artist: and cars :moped: , I have 2 boys. However, when we get to disney there is so much else to do they don't use them! :thumbsup2

We've always brought stuff in the past, but we won't anymore.
(Except a few things for the plane that do not need to be brought back home, more consumable things.) We have never used them, including the hand held games like a previous poster mentioned. There are always things to occupy kids that you can find...
if you stay on property, the resort usually gives kids coloring books and crayons at check-in
coloring pages and crayons at many of the restaurants
park maps are a fun activity for kids even younger ones...they can plan what they would like to see or what they did see or ride, or play a game, how many bathrooms can you find, etc....
souvenir cups to play in the pools or bathtub with...
stickers that the kids collect from CMs throughout the parks, etc.
souvenirs that you pick up

there are countless more things if you really search around....
I just feel like I have enough to keep track of when we are in the hotel room, that toys just add to that...
We all pay enough for our Disney vacation, my motto is leave the entertaining to them! :)

we drive to disney. i pack a few toys for her to play with in the car. And also a few special toys dd likes to sleep with at night!

I haven't been to Disney yet with my son, but went to mexico last winter when he was 4, and brought a ton of toys in my carryon, and he didn't use half of them. For my next trip, I'm planning on him choosing a few little plastic toys-superheroes, or the little disney playsets, a small notebook with crayons, and deck of cards, and maybe a couple soft back books. Plus I'm sure we'll buy quite a few souvenirs to play with while were there, as we both love to shop. :) Have a great trip.

We took books for my 18 month old and almost 4 year old on our trip to Disney. I won't take any next time. We bought souvenirs for the kids when we got there and that's what they played with. Taking the books just meant more stuff to pack on the way back.

Yes! We will pack toys for the car ride/plane ride and the resort. Our dd's are 6 and 2 and we plan to spend one day around our room because we are doing our very first MNSSHP on Tuesday, Oct. 10 :cool1: We will have coloring books and colors, a Barbie for each of them, their sleeping buddies and we are going to take potato heads because we are going to fill a box of PH parts :thumbsup2 We will also have Uno and a deck of regular cards...

Only 4 more days of work - and I really need to iron and pack!!!
