packing for my dark side trip and I want to make sure im not forgetting anything! Do you pack differently for a uni trip if you're used to Disney?

Make sure you pack something to account for the water rides....unlike Disney you will get VERY wet on some of them.

I like to bring sandals for those days so that I can take them off on the water rapid ride - your clothes and shoes will get soaked - no question.

You also want to travel light to the parks - there are many rides that you cannot bring bags on...there are also rides that you cannot bring anything on (coasters)
They do provide free lockers ...but I'm not sold on those fully - far too many times I saw security open an entire bay of lockers so someone could find their stuff. Or open a specific locker after someone described the contents.

I leave my Disney shirts at home and take my (fewer) Universal shirts. Leave the magic band at home and take my clear waterproof case for tickets/express pass that I got based on a recommendation on this forum! Other than that no difference in packing for me.

tony67, have you never been on Kali River Rapids? You can get soaked on that in AK also. I've never had any problems with the lockers except the very small space allotted for lockers in Hogsmeade area rides. I use the same bag for WDW and US/IOA and stuff it in a locker when I need to.

I do pack differently because we do different things. In terms of the theme park stuff, the same. Except I make SURE to have at least 2 pairs of tennis shoes and a good water ride pair of shoes.

The reason I pack differently is because most nights we tend to go out to eat after the parks. I don't waste those last precious hours inside Universal eating. We go back to the hotel and shower/get dressed for a nice meal at City Walk. At Disney it's not convenient to do this so we don't. We also don't do a whole lot of sit down places at disney.

I also like to pack a few light jackets for walking around the hotel, and some comfortable decent clothes for venturing out in the hotel at night.

But, some of you may do all that at disney. I don't since I stay off site. It's honestly easier for me to pack for universal for whatever reason.

I have several times and it is nothing like the soaked through you get on the Popeye barge ride. You get wet - but dry very quickly. On the Popeye barge ride even though it was sunny and mid 90s my clothes were still damp hours later.

I bring our lanyards, wands, and Universal/HP t-shirts:) Remember to bring cash or credit, since you don't have a magic band to charge. I think you can do room charges for onsite hotels, but I don't know if we ever do that, except at the hotel itself.

The only thing different is I make sure I have my interactive wand and a lanyard with plastic pouch for around my neck. And I don't Disneybound in Universal so that makes packing for it much easier.

What case is this? We definitely need one for our trip!

It was this one, recommended by Bumbershoot - https://www.amazon.com/WITZ-Safe-Waterproof-Badge-Holder/dp/B001P5Y08C?th=1

It's hard plastic, so not flexible like the plastic lanyards, but could hold our passes, express pass, ID, and a credit card. I could tuck it inside my shirt for some of the bagless rides, but not for ones like Hulk and Dragon Challenge. The tickets and express passes would scan right through the case if we remembered to put them in the right way.

FYI we wore our lanyards in RRR, no problem. DS had his arm in a cast for the recent trip and we couldn't do Hulk since it has had the metal detector (Dragon Challenge also as a cast restriction), but the detector and the TMs at RRR didn't care at all. How else are you going to carry your EP? :)

Personally I put a lot more thought into our Disney "outfits" depending on which park we planned on each day, themed to that park. At Universal, it's about comfort and ease. I find the Universal parks to be much more casual (in all the best ways!)

Thanks y'all!! We don't have Express passes. We are there mostly for HP. We've both done it before but not together and really, 30-45 mins in line together won't bother us. We are just so excited to be going together!!!! (Besties who haven't lived near each other in almost 10 years)

I have a waterproof plastic lanyard THING I got many moons ago for waterpark visits but I'd rather not wear it, honestly. Is there a need to keep our tickets handy if we don't have EPs?

Right now all my clothes are packed. Including amphibian tennis shoes, tennis shoes, sandals and a pair to wear with my costume (we are going MNSSHP our last night). Put my WDW poncho in there, tickets, a box of granola bars and a bathing suit in case we do pool time!

I had to laugh at this. I can only assume you didn't ride Popeyes when you went to Uni. Using the word "soaked" and "Kali River" in the same sentence means we have to create a new word for what you get on Popeyes. Soaked x20? :)

Popeyes is the best raft ride ever- Kali pales in comparison in length, fun and "soakedness".
