Do you or your husband have a "cool" job?

My husband was telling me about something that happened at work today, he does often, but makes me think about how cool his job is. He is the supervisor for abuse in domain services at a web hosting company. Said simply, he takes that spam and crap you get (including nasty kiddie porn & scams) and deals with it. He is constantly in contact with the FBI. People steal credit cards and open accounts with the porn and with the scams to cheat you out of your cc number. I think it's a cool job!

My "job" is ebay. I scour thrift stores and garage sales for merchandise... minus fees & inventory I make about $800-$1000 a month.. not bad. My family calls me the ebay queen.

Anyone else have a COOL JOB??

Not "cool" per se, but interesting nonetheless. DH is a Funeral Director. He knows about all the idiosyncracies that occur with sudden death. Sometimes I have to tell him to just shut up though... I don't want to know.

My husband is a public defender. He represents poor criminals in court (er, I mean, poor people who ALLEGEDLY committed a crime). Most of the time, it's very frustrating for him to represent people who don't know how to help themselves. Every once in a while he goes to trial and has some good stories. He's even represented a couple of people who were actually innocent. He also has a part-time seasonal job as a beer vendor at the Kansas City Chiefs football games!

Most people wouldn't consider my current occupation "cool" but I do. Currently we are working on isolating proteins from viruses and bacteria and working on treatments against them. It really is very interesting work, but the hours are pretty rough at times. They don't like paying temps overtime, so if I work one day for 12 hours, I'll have 4 hours at the end of the week kicked off. It often leads to very short fridays, which is real nice at times. :cool1:

My b/f is involved in financial services for an investment group in New York City. Kind of boring if you ask me.

My dh has several part-time jobs that support us. One is boring -- IT consulting. The other two -- private investigation and wedding photography -- are pretty cool. :)

DH is a tire designer with Goodyear. He doesn't think it's a cool job, but I think it's pretty neat. His biggest claim to fame in this Disney obsessed house is that he designed the tires for the Test Track vehicles.

As for me, I have the coolest job of all....I'm a mom. :teeth:

I don't honestly think mine is cool. I work with behavior disorder kids all day. It is enough to make you want to pull your hair out. However, my BIL has a really cool job. He is a lighting designer and travels all over the world and does trade shows for Intel and pharmaceutical companies. He as been everywhere, he has more stamps in his passport than I could ever dream of.

I used to have a cool job - I worked for a detective agency. Mostly it was searching for bank accounts to be attached, sometimes I was transcribing surveillance stuff. It's not all Magnum PI.

I think I have a pretty cool job (at least I enjoy it). I work as a consultant in the steel industry. Nothing like being the only woman in the room and wow-ing all the men with my vast knowledge of hot roll coils and rebar ;)

I'm an insurance adjuster who deals with cases prone to fraud by day (I get to tell the idiots who torch their cars and claim sudden car fires to collect the $$ that they are out of luck and being reported as fraud...whee!) and a paranormal investigator (wanders about creepy places at night with cameras and what not to debunk hauntings) by night. ;) I get paid pretty nicely for the day job. Not so much for the night job. Mainly that's just for my own interest. ;)

Well, my hubby is a pilot. I think that's REALLY cool. He's in the Air Force with one year until retirement. We found out yesterday that he didn't get a job with Southwest Airlines :guilty: but we're holding out hope that one of the other companies will pick him up within the next year.

I wish I had a cool job....

I have one of the best jobs ever. I teach fitness and line dance to older people. It is wonderful working with them, and I feel that I am helping to increase the quality of their lives.

I believe I have a pretty cool job! My family manufactures concession go karts and we ship them worldwide! We are probably the leading concession go kart manufacturer in the US! I think that is pretty darn cool considering we are located in a *village* of about 1,200 people! (we are not even big enough to be classified as a city or town!)

my kids would tell ya their daddy has one cool job- driving the fire engine. me on the other hand being a nurse- uncool. ;)

back in the day, before i became a SAHM (which is the BEST job in the world, IMHO, lol) i was a legal secretary-not only did i help ppl who really needed me on a daily basis, my boss was also nice enough to take me to court with him on really interesting cases (capital murder & such) so on those occasions i got to dress in a REALLY snazzy business suit and shoes, carry my beautiful, black, leather briefcase and act all important, lol. my husband has a pretty cool job too (IMHO, because it helps the environment) he works in an aluminum recycling plant and runs a machine which shreds things people no longer want so they can then be melted and formed into ingots (they now ship molten metal as well) that is then used to make things ppl can use again (engine blocks, soda cans, auto rims, etc).

I think my job is pretty cool eventhough it's also pretty ordinary. I'm a pre-k teacher. I get paid to fingerpaint, color, go on the playground and enjoy the kids. I love my job. :goodvibes

DH has been a stage technician for over 30 years. Worked with many celebrities over the years and has a cool collection of memorabilia.
