I wonder the same thing about why people eat so much. Gosh with all of the studies about obesity and the diseases it causes, I have to shake my head at fat people going to fast food restaurants. When I go to buffets, seeing fat people getting tons of food makes me nauseous. When will the government start putting black box warnings on junk food?

True, lots of fat people. Lots of them at WDW. It's sad to see so many over weight children.

I used to be a pack a day smoker. I started smoking at the age of 13 granted then it was a once in awhile thing but by the time I was writing term papers in college it was a pack a day. When I was 26 I had an allergic reaction witch triggered an asthmatic response. I felt like I couldn't breath and all I wanted in the world was a cigarette. I knew I had to quit and I did cold turkey. I figured I had hit the 50/50 point at that point I had smoked for 50% of my life and didn't want to have smoked for more years then not. This was over 10 years ago and honestly I don't miss it one bit. I hate the smell of cigarette smoke now and hate when it lingers on people it just smells rancid to me. My BFF still smokes and I wish wish she would quit it worries me for her health and it just smells foul.

Ex smoker here. Quit about ten years ago. But never smoked more than 6-10 per day and it was THE HARDEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE!

DH finally quit two years ago. He smoked over two packs a day for 35 years.
He was diagnosed with Stage 3B lung cancer six months ago. Just finished Chemo and radiation.

But we will never be one of those who preach and/or judge smokers. We understand how it is an addiction and noboby really "wants" to be a smoker. And I remember how satisfying it is to have a cup of coffee with a cig in the morning or one after dinner. I don't miss smoking, but miss that feeling.

And I will say you don't know how stinky it is until you have quit.

Pixie dust and best of luck to all those who want to quit. Don't despair if you fail, you'll never quit for good if you stop trying!

Wow congrats to all for quitting . I never smoked. My fiancé parents do and I wish they wouldn't cause he had a heart attack 5 years ago and shouldn't be around it. They continue anyway more so the mom.

OMG I am so sorry. How is he doing now?

Ex smoker here--I smoked from the time I was 15 to the day I found out I was pregnant with my oldest child (who is 19 now, so it's been 20 years of no smoking for me). I had tried to quit several times before that, but couldn't (heavy drinking and smoking was pretty much a part of the army lifestyle in the 80's). Saying whoa I have to take care of myself for my baby probably added years to my life.

I have never smoked directly. I grew up with three chain smokers in the house and just had to inhale. I probably had at least as much gunk in my lungs as they did. That was back in the day that smokers had all the rights and non-smokers just had to put up with it.

One of the happiest days of my life was sometime in the late 80s when my company restricted smoking at the desk and set up designated smoking rooms. We did have a non-smoking boss who used to hide in there!

I'm an ex-smoker, finally kicking the habit cold turkey for good about 25 years ago. I did quit when pregnant but being stupid started up again both times. I must have been ready this last time because it wasn't that difficult which I thought was very surprising. I don't remember getting crabby either but you never know. Maybe I was & didn't realize it.

Now I can't stand the smell & do whatever I can to avoid anyone smoking. It's hard to go into local malls because folks are just outside the door puffing away. I almost wish the mall owners would make a small area around the corner from the main doors with tables & such so smokers would have a place to be. Wouldn't be fun in the winter but would be enjoyable in the nicer weather.

Too bad I can't get DH to quit....the house still stinks & our lovely downstairs is ruined with the stench & yellowing of the walls. Ick Ick Ick

both of my parents smoked and my sister smoked, but i never got into it. i'm actually a bit allergic and asthmatic, so better for me so that i don't do it lol.

both my parents have since quit tho, which i'm very happy about. altho my mom still says "to this day, i STILL crave a cigarette" :sad2:
