Does most everyone get the vacation insurance when you book through Disney? I just booked our trip when the new rates were released and I am sitting here wondering how much it is costing me for the insurance (am calling to find out) but it got me wondering if everyone else tacks on this insurance to their package? and is it really worth it.

We buy the insurance. It makes us feel better with a WDW vacation being so expensive.

I think it is $59.95 per adult and nothing for kids for Disney insurance.

Last time, we went through Boscov's Travel and it was about the same ($120 for 2 adults and one child).

We purchased it last year because we were going during peak hurricane season. We didn't get it through Disney though because at that time if you didn't book your airfare through them then it wasn't covered. My TA purchased it from a different company that would cover everything (can't remember the name of it though)

I don't buy it through Disney. My Gold Mastercard has it as long as I pay for at least 75% of the trip on that card. Which I do.

From reading in the past Disneys insurance is fairly restrictive on conditions. You should probably look around first. Maybe even check with your credit card company.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the insurance is non-refundable.

I did go ahead and purchase it through Disney since we're going during hurricane season. I priced out other policies online; the Disney one came out cheaper, and the brochure terms seemed ok.

The insurance is really a competitive price so we took it this year. Last year we didnt and nothing happened but you never know! The CM on the phone told me he had a family member use the insurace last winter when they got stuck in a snow storm at the airport in Denver and the insurance came to thier rescue.... So I guess you never know :confused3

For the last 30 years of traveling down there we've never had a need for it. I guess we've just been lucky because we've gone down during many hurricane seasons !:woohoo:

We don't use Disney's, we use insuremytrip.com and pay less for more coverage (i.e. terrorism). Hey, if I can save $50, I will!

Nope never buy it..

Didn't Disney put a Hurricane policy into effect last year that would allow you to cancel with no penalty under certain conditions?
