Ok, since my milk question has gotten such interesting answers, I bring you another food question..

Is there anything you do not eat or drink for odd reasons...

I will not eat a lot of foods because of the texture of the foods. I have MAJOR texture problems and if I dont like the texture of the food in my mouth..I will not eat it..banana's are a good example...the thought of them gives me the skeevies..:scared: Also, slightly warm milk...HAS to be ICY cold or forget it...

So who else has weird habits when it comes to food...

I don't like things that are grainy, like pears or watermelon. However I will eat them anyway if I am starving enough.;)

I am not really that picky with food and love to try new things.

Not really, there are foods I won't eat because of taste or smell, but I think that is pretty normal. I won't eat things like rabbit because I just can't eat something like that without thinking of what it was before.

I can't eat tomatoes or strawberries becuase the seeds gross me out.

I do not like to eat cute things - dogs, horses, goats, lamb etc.

Have eaten all of the above but could not get the picture of what I was eating out of my mind.

 I'm pretty sure it would be quicker for me to list the things I *will* it, rather than the things I won't. If it lived in the water, I won't eat it. Mushrooms, tomatoes, avocados, peppers, eggplant, thick-cut or rare meat... yeah, the list goes on.

I think mainly it's a texture thing; I also have an extremely sensitive nose, so strongly scented things tend to scare me off as well.

For some reason I have a serious aversion to omelettes...something about the egg/cheese combination grosses me out. I still haven't figured out why though. I literally gag if I have to eat it.

Mayo also grosses me out, but again not sure why.

Other than that it's mainly texture or taste issues...the usual. Organ meats, mushrooms, horseradish, raw onion...all due to taste and/or texture.

I won't eat "loose" hamburger meat.. like chili, hamburger helper, etc. I can eat a hamburger, but only if it's not a super thick gross one, and I have to have a bun, so that cuts out meatballs too. The texture just makes me cringe. I would eat bark off a tree before I ate any ground meat!

Sausage, scrapple and most pork except bacon- but it has to be so crispy it falls apart. Again, that whole texture thing wigs me out. NO venison, buffalo or anything out of the "norm". Pretty much just beef and poultry.

Most of the foods I don't like are for the usual reasons, but my hang up is that I don't like my foods to touch. I've been getting worse about that as I get older.

I don't like nuts in my food.

I like nuts, by the handful, very much! I don't like them in my brownies, I don't like them in my bread, I don't like them in Chinese food. Period.

I have no clue why but it absolutely ruins the dish for me.

I will not eat anything that is vital to live. Ex. heart, liver, kidney etc. I can't bring myself to eat seafood except Captain D's. I think it's a smell thing. I love falvorings such as watermelon, mango, kiwi but won't eat one to save my life. That is a texture thing.

I am glad to see I am not the only one with a texture problem..I get SOOO much grief about that..:lmao:

I can't eat tomatoes....
My brother-in-law can't stand tomatoes. He is very vocal about it because I always yank his leg about ordering a hamburger with tomatoes if we were out to lunch (we worked together) or he is over for a family picnic.

But, just about every other day I ask what he has for lunch, and it's usually spagetti, pizza, or something else with tomato sauce. I always have to let him know that spagetti and pizza sauce is indeed made with tomatoes.

Though, he gets me the same way with onions. I have to order something for lunch and make sure I specify no onions. Can't stand them. Don't like the taste and as others said, the texture practically makes me sick if I unexpectedly bite into one. Yet, we run to Burger King where I order a Whopper no onions and...... a large order of onion rings, LOL. LOVE onion rings.

I despise milk so I never ate anything white till my 30s :scared1: The closer it looked to milk the more I stayed away!! :scared1:

My food can't touch unless it is supposed too like gravy on mashed potatoes.

Also, I cannot nor will I eat bacon on a hamburger. For some reason putting those two together just grosses me out! Watching someone eating a burger with bacon on it makes me want to heave.

Also I cannot drink water or sweet tea through a straw. Something about the plastic straw seems to change the flavor for me. Now I can drink a Coke or any other drink through a straw. My husband thinks I am strange.

I don't eat anything that lives in water either.... I was happy to see that a previous poster feels the same way... I'm not alone! I can't even eat salad dressing or marinade if it lists anchovies in the ingredients or any thing with clam juice :scared: in it.

I won't eat any kind of meat I deem "weird" to eat either... no deer, bisson, rabbit, etc. Pretty much I will only eat chicken, turkey, beef, and pork for meat. But not off a bone... it has to be "stand alone" meat. And deli meats I will only eat for the first 2 days after I purchase it, after that I can't eat it.

Same here. Although, I can eat "loose" meat better than I can a burger or meatballs. All of it grosses me out, though.

And bacon is about as far as I will go into the pork front. And super well done/burned.

I hate the texture of meat. Blah.

I can't even touch a hot dog without gagging. Blech.

I won't eat popsicles because I can't stand the sound it makes when I bite into them. It is like fingernails down a chalkboard:scared1: I can't stand watching other people bite them too. Weird.

I am a horribly picky eater & I'm honestly not sure if it's because of texture or taste. :confused3

I can't eat raw veggies of any kind. I only like corn & cooked carrots. I will eat other veggies cooked, but really don't care for them.

Can't eat salad. I order all tacos (actually chicken fajitas) without lettuce & tomato. If there is a stray piece of lettuce that ends up in my fajita I just about gag when I bite into it - the smallest piece will make me want to throw it out!

Mayonnaise grosses me out. Don't like pasta salad because of the dressing (even without the veggies). I don't eat sausage (italian or polish) because what I call "the little balls" in it completely turn my stomach. Can't stand raisins or nuts in foods but will eat them individually. Raisins in a baked good reminds me of a dead fly!!!

At 47 I seriously eat like a little kid. I could live on PBJ, pasta with butter or olive oil & bologna sandwiches. I like breakfast foods.

I really don't like being a picky eater, but that's me!

BTW - I read the cereal/milk thread. I didn't respond, but as I sit here finishing my bowl of cereal it is turning my stomach to even think about drinking the milk that is warm & contains cereal crumbs.
