Do you not like foods/drinks for odd reasons?

I have serious issues with soup. I hate the cream of whatever veggie soups...they smell and LOOK like something that would be a result of eating them:sick:

I can't in any way, shape or form handle the broths from any basic soups. It must be drained completely. I spent a month in the hospital and was on a liquid diet. I spent the entire month subsisting on lime jello and iced fruit pops...I can no longer eat lime jello or fruit pops:laughing:

Can not stand the texture, smell or taste of peas. Uck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't like any cold salad - cole slaw, potato salad, pasta salad, egg or tuna salad - you name it, I don't eat it. The only salad I eat is ham salad, but only in a grilled sandwich. Now a lettuce salad, I can do.

I like my food hot. Won't touch day old pizza cold, cold fried chicken, cold baked beans, it's gotta be warmed up. Before Subway toasted their subs, I would get one, but I always had to take it home and warm it up before eating it.

DS15 is just like a pp - if he tastes lettuce on anything, it makes him sick and he can't finish eating and throws it away.

Cherry or grape tomoatoes - texture thing completely. The squish when you bite into them is what I imagine it would feel like to bite into a tick.

Peaches in any form. The smell of them makes me sick, but that is because of a horrible incident when I was a child, not because of any food issue.

Uncooked celery - texture thing again.

Otherwise I'm not picky at all.

Seafood, but mostly because it tastes fishy, and shellfish, because they look so darn alive, even when cooked. :scared:

See Tags.:lmao:

Sliced tomatoes look like they are still in the Larve form.

Can't do ice tea or jello because of one of those unfortunate childhood incidents, can't even abide the smell or sight of either one.

I have more but there is not a post long enough to mention them all.

I refuse to eat beets- anything that shade of purple should not be edible.

I cannot eat guacamole!! It looks like something that you would see in a baby's dirty diaper!!! :scared:

I'm also not a fan of any type of seafood, except for the occasional piece of fish from Long John Silvers. I don't like anything that smells too "fishy"!

I can't eat chicken wings because when I was in middle school, we had to disect one. It was disgusting and it smelled horrible and I have never gotten over it.

It's hard living in Buffalo and not eating wings!

I love celery on it's own, but I can't stand to find little pieces of it in chicken or tuna salad. It's a texture thing. But I don't mind the chicken salad that has almonds in it. That texture is okay.

I can eat a slice of raw onion on a burger or sandwich, but I do not want to find any onion (even if it is ground up fine) in my tuna, potato, or chicken salad.

My mother used to love butter pecan ice cream when I was a kid. I couldn't touch that stuff. Even to this day I find it very unappealing - but call it praline (not too different), and I love it. I don't even know if butter pecan is still made.

For the most part I don't want to eat any food that came out of a cardboard box. Hamburger helper, rice-a-roni, etc. I hate fake food. I'll eat tofu - but I don't want a fake tofu hot dog.

Cake mixes out of a box are okay.

I used to work with an older lady who would not drink a drop of water. I finally got the nerve to ask her why and she stated, " fish have s*x in water." I still laugh when I think of it. :lmao:

I do not like he smell or feel of ketchup. I will eat it on my fries, but freak out when it gets on my fingers.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I refuse to eat beets- anything that shade of purple should not be edible.

I can't stand beets either. It's the only vegetable that I don't eat. Don't like chicken, turkey, and even though I have a tag about hamburgers, I don't eat them anymore. The only red meat I like is filet mignon. I like all seafood but won't eat fish.

Ok, since my milk question has gotten such interesting answers, I bring you another food question..

Is there anything you do not eat or drink for odd reasons...

I will not eat a lot of foods because of the texture of the foods. I have MAJOR texture problems and if I dont like the texture of the food in my mouth..I will not eat it..banana's are a good example...the thought of them gives me the skeevies..:scared: Also, slightly warm milk...HAS to be ICY cold or forget it...

So who else has weird habits when it comes to food...

Bananas...they taste like mush to me.

Except I'll get them when they're baked in a cake or something. But I still don't like the mush even then. Must be a texture thing. :confused3

I will not eat tomato sauce with chicken (ie chicken parmasean). I don't think those two flavors go together.

ME EITHER! Disgusting combination.

I hate milk. How anyone could drink a glass of milk really boggles my mind. However, I LOVE almond milk.

There are a lot of foods I don't eat because I just don't like them (seafoods, broccoli, cottage cheese, etc).

But the foods I don't eat that probably falls into the "odd" category is that I do not eat warm fruit. I do not mean how oranges would at one time have been warm from having grown on a tree. I mean fruit which has intentionally been cooked or heated in some way.

I won't eat pies or cobblers or dishes that have a fruity sauce (like chicken with apricot sauce, etc). I won't eat them cooled or cold if I know it was warmed at one time.

The one fruit I seem to be able to handle warmed is bananas (like in bananas foster sauce, etc).

I get a lot of teasing from friends/family about my weird warm fruit issue.

***Funny side note*** I have never met anyone else irl who has this warm fruit issue, but I love to watch the show Bones. In the episode The Pain in the Heart, Brennan says she doesn't like pie because she doesn't like her fruit cooked. I immediatly paused this on the DVR...run into the other room and get SO (who is the biggest teaser about my "issue") and played it back for him to show him I am not a total freak!!!

I can't stand sour cream, especially glopped on a la some Mexican fast food places.

I'm not a big fan of things that are "flavored" with other things that should be left alone (although there might be a few exceptions here and there ;) )..

Two examples - coffee and creamer..:headache:

Coffee should be coffee.. I don't want a hundred different flavors of it - nor do I want "coffee flavored" ice cream; "coffee flavored" hard candies; etc..

Same with cream.. Cream should taste like cream.. Not almonds; not hazelnut; not Irish-whatever; etc.. Cream should taste like cream..

Other than those two hang-ups, all of my other food issues are due to digestion problems - not textures or anything of that nature..:goodvibes

I don't eat cooked fruit either. It's just so wrong. I will eat bananna nut bread but if I find a chunk I pick it out. I don't like fruit in ice cream either. The closest I get is that I like orange and lime sherbert. I think it's the chunky soft slighty tacky feel of the fruit when I bite into it. It sticks to my teeth and I honestly feel like I need to scrub them. I also don't like the taste of sugared fruit. Jelly is kinda okay if its a really really thin layer, but only grape and only occasionally.

I have a very big texture thing when it comes to food. Jello literally makes me gag.

I also can't eat eggs. Even the smell of cooking eggs turns my stomach. For me it's thinking about what it is supposed to be, a baby chicken, that gets to me. Eggs in something is ok though.

I won't drink whole milk or 2%, too thick and nasty.

I don't like raw pears b/c they feel grainy and crunch weird between your teeth.

I used to would not eat mushrooms b/c of their texture, but have warmed up to them in the last couple of years.

I DO NOT eat raw carrots, broccoli or cauliflower. Gag. But it's more how they taste than the texture, although the texture of raw broccoli is pretty gross.

I have a texture issus as well and will not eat anything green and leafy--lettuce, cabbage, spinach, arugula, etc. I also do not like any green herbs and if something has too many herbs in it or on it (as garnish) I will not eat it.

If something is too chunky (like soup or tomato sauce) I will also not eat that.

I was a picky eater before the Celiac diagnosis and now post diagnosis I have to be even more picky. In addition to no gluten, I am currently on a very strict diet to assist in the healing of my intestines--no ruffage and minimal dairy.
