Do you need water shoes for the water parks?

We bought them for the whole family and took them off within 20 minutes and threw them out the next day.

Barefoot for my family.

No. I would only suggest these in June, July and August when cement is very hot. Otherwise, any sandal will do.

We always wear water shoes for the water parks but I never wear them at Stormalong bay as it's almost imposible to get the sand out of them.

DH and I both wear sandals from the parking lot to the lockers, then we leave them in the lockers and never put them on again until we're getting ready to leave. Never gave it a second thought.

We always wear our watershoes. As I recall, the bottom of the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon seemed quite rough. I don't know how people could walk around in it for any length of time without scraping up their feet.

My dd's and I wear them, dh dosen't like them and wears tevas. Us "ladies" can wear the water shoes on all but the biggest slides, he has to take his off. Even at TL and BB the concrete gets hot despite the water jets. I like that we can just pop into the rest room with the water shoes on and don't have to go back to the locker/chairs first. Maybe its just me but I like wearing shoes in public places.

We're going to TL on Friday and I was just thinking 'ohmygosh, where am I going to find watershoes around here', then it just occurred to me that we could all wear our Crocs. They're water-friendly and very lightweight.

Im of the opposite school of others here. I bought some water shoes and they were so uncomfortable so I never wore them over 20 minutes. I have brought sandles in the past too but every time i go I end up going bare foot. I have been in July, May and August twice and mostly Typhoon Lagon and I always go barefoot and never have a problem. (Ive only been to Blizzard Beach twice and never wore them there either) I wont say it isnt hot in spots but I never felt too hot to walk anywhere.

Ditto.
All of us thought we'd use water shoes (especially the kids that had ones that matched their new Disney swimsuits) on the last trip... but after about 10-20min or so we had them on our table where we left our stuff and we were there the entire day without them on. LOL But then we're in Texas- we're used to going to water parks a lot in the summer and not wearing those shoes. You wear those every day (well not EVERY DAY- but a lot) and you'll get blisters and all sorts of things. I guess our feet may have toughened up a bit from previous burns on the concrete. Either that or we've just learned walk on the puddles on the concrete and if it's dry- skip/hop/whatever it takes. kinda like people who walk on hot coals. LOL

Those that wear sandals or crocs- what do you do with them while on the slides? Wear them? If you wear them, don't they interfere with how you go down the slide or do you hold your feet up in the air? If you don't wear them- what, do you hold them?

Me too. I didn't even know about water shoes until I came on here!

I think they could be great in the summer (I managed without them though!) and a 'must' for small children (who have soft feet and could probably really burn their feet on the concrete).

Went to TL last week on an overcast, rainy day. We did not wear shoes but the one thing I wish I new before going is that the walkway can get very slippery. There are two types of concrete used at TL. The pinkish type is fine to walk on. The white gets dangerous, especially where it dips off the walkway to go to the beach or to a map. I took a really good fall at the beginning of the day. Even after that each of us slipped a couple of times on the white stuff. We are from an area where we get ice storms so we should have been used to walking on slippery stuff but it still took us by surprise once in a while.

We have spent a lot of time at the water park, this past August, and never felt a need for water shoes, I should add that my kids and I always walk barefoot at home, inside and outside, so you might be more used to the no shoe idea.
