Do you need a written confirmation at check in?

After making our reservations for our split stay - 7 nights at POFQ and 4 nights at WL - I received immediately our confirmation for POFQ but never one for WL. I have called 4 times to request one and the CM always sounds disappointed that I haven't gotten a confirmation and say they will send it right away, but I still don't have one. Should I call again or do I not really need it?

I would call again. Or you can login to waltdisneyworld.com and click "my vacation." Enter in your confirmation number and your reservation should show up there. You could always print a copy of that screen. I like having things on paper so it is hard copy proof the room view and rate I reserved.

If you've paid your trip in full, they send you a travel packette something like 45 days in advanced. It has the confirmation slips for everything you'll need and everything you've booked in your package. That will include your resort(s), Magical Express and such. That should be all the confirmation you need.

I am also wondering where my paper confirmation is.

We also booked a split stay, one which is taking advantage of the free dining, with a couple of other days as a room-only. We have yet to receive any confirmation on the room only reservation. It's been 14 days, so if I don't receive it today, I'll probably call.

It is listed on "My Reservations" on the website, so at worst, I'll print a copy from there, and bring a copy of my credit card statement showing that I've paid the deposit.

When we changed our reservation in early June, we received our reservation change almost immediately. When we up-graded our reservation a week or two later to WL, we never received a confirmation. Last week, we finally bought our air tickets; so dh called to book DME and our 1st night at Pop. He told the CM that we'd never received confirmation for our WL. CM checked all the information about our reservation on the computer, and everything was correct. A couple of days later, we received confirmations for both WL and Pop. Based upon what I've read on the boards, Disney had some problems with confirmation letters for about a week around the time we upgraded to WL. I think this is a fairly common occurence, too. It doesn't hurt to cal and ask if you haven't received your confirmation. I always feel more comfortable with the paper in hand...even if I have the confirmation numbers separately. I've never had a problem with a WDW reservation, but I have at plenty of other places.

I agree. I don't ever remember being asked for the paper. I have had family members check in because they arrived earlier them I did and there was no problem.

I booked my August vacation a few weeks ago. I asked for a confirmation e-mail, they said they don't e-mail. But, they did fax me a copy of my confirmation. Glad they did - they got my kids dates of birth wrong! :rolleyes1

Thanks for the replies. I am going to call one more time. We leave next Friday so there probably isn't time now to receive confirmation by mail. What concerns me is the first time I called to find out why they hadn't mailed one to me, they checked and my reservation had been cancelled for WL and all of my deposit was placed at POFQ. These reservations are for room only with an AP discount. I had reserved a Woods view and of course they were all gone as were the standards. They offered me a courtyard view for 40.00 more per night. Another person would have thrown a fit but I didn't and after the CM checked a few more times, a woods view was graciously offered. Also, when I check the reservation number on the WDW web site, my reservation number changes :confused3 1 and there is a completely different reservation for WL that I did not make. I've mentioned this 3 times on the phone and CM's can't explain this or seem concerned. I'm sure everything will be fine but all of the resorts seem to be full and I don't want to go home 4 days early.

My first confirmation for my upcoming trip had a totally different confirmation number than the one quoted on the phone. They were also requesting a deposit, even though it had been paid over the phone. It took some searching but they fixed it and mailed us the correct reservation. Seems as though two confirmation numbers were generated for our stay and we were mailed the one that didn't have a deposit.
At this late date you probably won't get a confirmation in time. However, ask the CM to go through your reservation numbers to make sure the dates, hotels, and room views are correct.
