I'm curious how many people stay in more than one resort when on their trip at WDW. It could be to try out different places, or to pay cash for a room instead of using high points on the weekend for DVC.
I am a "stay put" person because I'd hate the hassle of unpacking, then repacking & unpacking again. Plus as previously mentioned, it gives me just one more reason to go back again!!
We normally stay in one place. Last fall, however, we decided to have the best of both worlds and spend half of the trip in DTD at Courtyard due to the fabulous rate they had and half at Wilderness Lodge. What we saved on one paid for the other. This trip we will be one night at Courtyard and the rest at Wilderness.
I would really like to stay-put in one place like July's trip ... 8 days at the CR was heaven. Realistically, we can't. We're DVC members and the extra points are killers for the weekend, so we usually stay somewhere else (WDW or off-site) on the weekends.
We almost always resort-hop. Sometimes to save money or points, sometimes to try a different place, and sometimes because we planned a last-minute trip and can't get all of our nights at one resort.
My goal has always been to stay in one place. But right now, due to a shortage of points, I will look elsewhere for my weekend nights from OKW. I will miss OKW for the two nights, but for the difference in points, I'll move!
All of the above!
We have stayed put in the past.
This time we are moving (twice).
The first move is because we want to see other resorts (AKL) AND don't really want to spend a lot of points on weekends.
The second move is because we planned to spend one night with relatives but they finked out on us so we had to grab a room at the Swan on short notice. (other)
We always "stay put"! I would consider it a hassle to have to pack up and switch resorts...Like a previous poster said we'll just have to plan another trip to check out a different resort!
Before becoming DVC members we used to splurge a little for the first 2 or 3 nights at the deluxe resorts and than partway through the trip swich over to Dixie Landings just because it was so much easier to afford the deluxe resort stays that way. Now that we are DVC members, for the most part we like to stay put and just try a different resort on different trips. We just don't like having to pack up and move partway through anymore now that we've gotten to try out so many of the different resorts. As for the pts being so much higher on the weekends, we try to go Sun -Sat now so that we are only spending the higher pts for Fri. night instead of going Sun - Sun and spending 2 nights worth of higher pts. One night of the higer pts is worth not having to move but 2nights is a killer.
In June I went 4 nights did 3 hotels, 1st AKL next night Poly and the last 2 night BWI. My brother thought I did it to save money but in reality I spent more then I should have, went concierge except for AKL and that was a savanah room This June we are going to do the BWI and the GF, 3 night each
We usually stay in one resort (we normally spend 6 days,7nights). However, in May, we're going to WDW for 10 days so we're splitting our stay between two resorts (5 nights at each). For us is was a matter of budgeting....we really wanted to stay at AKL but we also really wanted to have a longer vacation. So, we're staying 5 nights at AKL and the other 5 at POR. I wouldn't split a trip shorter than 8 days.
We stay in one resort for the duration of our vacation. Twice we have stayed in 2 resorts for our vacations but that was because we added an extra day to our trip and were unable to get the extra night at our hotel. I don't like packing and unpacking so that's why I prefer one resort per stay.
