"Do You Mind?" - Disney Adventures with Teens August Trip Report

:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:
10 Days!!!
:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

This is the LAST day of double digits!

I am on my way to San Francisco this morning.

Mom and Katie are at home, taking care of appointments and keeping Jo's kids occupied.

Yay for 10 days

The trip is so cloes, but it doesn't even feel real. I can't believe we enter single digits tomorrow!!!

Hope you have a safe flight to San Francisco.

Irene - I hope you have a great vacation! Are you going to do a TR?! :thumbsup2

I just got an email from a friend of mine who went to WDW last year. I am glad she told me these things!

"Did I suggest that if you have time BEFORE you leave the park that day, go into the photo center and have them pull up your photos. They have different icons there that they can put on your picture that you CAN'T get to after you get home. (I don't think you have to then pay to have them print them.) I believe if they will just save that image, then that photo w/ icon will be available to you when you pull it up at home.
I did not take the time to do this when we were there because I didn't realize it was available. I assumed all the cool icons would be available anytime. Was very disappointed to find that I had missed out on this.

This might also be a good thing to do if your mom gets hot and wants to cool off. You could take a break and go into the photo center to view them. Sometimes all the photos take a while to show up too. Don't know why, but they might show up when you go back the next day.

The photo center is on the right when you walk into Magic Kingdom. Has a Kodak sign on the building I think.
The photo center in Epcot is also on right next to Spaceship Earth.
Not sure where MGM or AK photo center is. They may not have one.

The water parks will take your photos and throw you water proof photo pass cards with wrist straps. Pretty cool."

Great info, especially about the icons. I guess some you can only get at Disney and some you can only access from home.

I'm a little disapointed. I just read today that they are renovating the rooms, lobby, hallways, etc. at Beach Club (at least they were last week). Someone just returned last weekend and said it is noisy during the day (drills, nails) and that there is scaffolding in front of the entrance.

I assume they will not be finished by the time we go, and this is a little disapponting to me, especialy with how expensive this resort is and the fact that we are getting no discount whatsoever.

Now I am definitely going to call next week and put in a request to be located as far as possible from any potential construction during our stay.

It's always something.

That stinks!!!

Would you consider switching resorts? Like BWI?

oh my goodness jordan - you beat me to it!!!

Can I pack you in my luggage to do my laundry? I will give you a 1-day pass to the park of your choice in exchange!!

I wouldn't too much about the renovations. If you're room is far enough from the noise it shouldn't be too bad. If it gets to you, walk over to the BCV and hang out in one of the great drawing rooms...so peaceful and quiet.

Thanks! But, I'm not really planning on doing a TR - I don't think I have the following to pull people, lol!

The interesting part will be selling the kids on the Madison part of the trip. So far, my plan is to go up Sunday for the last day of the butterfly exhibit at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens. Monday - zoo and adjacent beach (all free!) Tuesday - Children's Museum and explore State Street/downtown Madison. If we have time, maybe the arboretum. Wednesday - maybe the farmers market in the morning, then drive to the Dells. A couple of possible stops on the way - the International Crane Foundation (or something like that), and there's supposed to be an interesting garden sculpture garden thingy that I need to confirm that it still exists. Oh, yeah - there are also some wineries in the area that dh wants to visit. We can get into Kalahari's waterpark at noon, even tho we can't get into our room until 4. So, waterpark from noon to close?

Then, Thursday, do a Duck tour in the morning. More waterpark, then Tommy Bartlett show in the evening (free tix with package, probably because Lake Delton is dry, so no waterskiing). Friday, more waterpark, then drive the long drive home. (Oh, and our package includes free breakfast, 1 buffet, plus a pizza, so basically, we need to buy lunches and snacks those days.)

I do find it ironic that we are going to the city to do nature stuff, and in the Dells, I want to mainly be at the waterpark! But, I want to avoid the strip as much as I can...

OOHH

single digits is always exciting. so close.

Hi y'all. Sorry - no time for proper responses tonight.

I am so excited about single digits. One week from right now, I hope I'm sleeping soundly at home, waiting to awake and head to Memphis at 6am. I can't believe it's so close.

I don't think we've lost Mom. I am pretty sure she is reading. She is in Austin helping care for the three kids during the day while Jo and Chris are working. She got some news today that may delay her closing next week (supposed to be Monday). I didn't get to follow up with her, so I'm not sure how it all worked out.

I just know she's just very busy with real life, as am I. I'm in my condo room here in Napa, which is very nice. Meetings and golf tomorrow. Late cocktails, dinner, and more cocktails. Not sure if I will be able to check in but I will try.

I can't believe we are 7 days from leaving, 8 days from Disney!

Just wanted to say hi, I stumbled across your PTR and really loved it. I hope you have a fantastic trip!! :goodvibes
