"Do You Mind?" - Disney Adventures with Teens August Trip Report

As Susan noted, I collect Christmas ornaments of places I've visited. I also ask friends and family who travel to bring me an ornament from 'wherever'. So I have ornaments from all over the world and it's so much fun unwrapping them each year and remembering all the great memories. I have so many ornaments that I need multiple trees to display them. I don't know what I'm going to do moving from a four bedroom house to a smaller condo. But the teacher in me will get creative and figure some way to display them.

I also buy Disney t-shirts, hats, pencils, pens, notepads, etc. to give family and friends upon my return.

Packing and moving is the worst! I just moved in May and it was a nightmare!!!

What grade level did you teach?

By the way, Tate broke his heel today. Tate is Katie's boyfriend. He was riding his dirt bike. I visited him at the ER/Minor Med clinic. He's doing fine; they put him in a boot, on crutches and on Lortab until he can see the ortho surgeon. In the past year he has broken a collar bone, both legs, and a heel riding motocross. His mom says he's done with dirtbikes, but I could see in his dad's eye that he disagrees.

I think Tate fits into your family quite well as I remember some of your "growing years". It seems to me that you, too, were accident prone. Let's see......1 big toe chopped off by a falling television set, 1 collarbone broken on the school monkeybars, 1 nose broken at work from a fall, 1 foot crushed at work by a rolling cart, etc. etc. etc.......

They also didn't have Reeses PB cups, which I wanted to order for Katie. It's her feel-good treat. I get them for her when she's ill. Such a great mom! :)

Now I wonder where you got that idea.:confused3 If you remember, whenever one of you girls was sick and didn't feel like eating, I would buy you Reeses PB cups and milkshakes. Somehow that seemed like a tricky way to get protein and calcium into your feeble little bodies.

It must have worked.....you both survived to remember to do the same for your sickly little spawns.:rotfl:

Are you going to post your lists???
I've been trying to decide. On one hand, it might help someone. On the other hand, what if someone sees that I am packing something they would like to have and they know where I'll be staying, etc. I don't really think they would have enough info to find me or my stuff (especially since I'm not decorating my resort room door!).

What do you think?

:lmao: I almost spit out my water when I read this.

I don't think anyone will stalk you :rotfl2: Plus, no one will ever be able to find your BC room. They'd need to know your last name. And if anyone is pathetic enough to just hang in the lobby until they spot you, then call the Disney police!!!

I'm not decorating my door either. Besides terrifying my family, it just wouldn't make sense. There are inside hallways. Who's going to see it? Housekeeping? Same with window decorating. I requested a 3rd floor room. All of the rooms at the Poly have balconies. So unless someone's going to scale the building like Spiderman, no one will see it.

I was under the impression that this mostly went on at the value resorts where everyone can see the windows and doors.

Quit laughing at me. Ok Ok I will post my lists. Later.

Spiderman may be on the POP buildings. I have never been there. Wait - he's not a Disney character, so if I see Spidey scaling any building at any Disney resort, I will start worrying.

I didn't request a certain room. I am starting to wonder if I should. At BC it's very confusing.

If you're close to the Epcot entrance, you're far from the pool and the bus stops.
If you can see the fireworks, you have to be 3rd floor.
Some have full balconies, some have partial or no balconies.
Some rooms are still standard (what I booked), but they are larger. I have a map of the resort. I wonder if I should request one of these larger ones, given that we have 5 adult-sized people. Interior space may be more important than view or proximity to whatever.
Some say that if you make a special request, you reduce your changes of an upgrade.

So I just get all confused and quit thinking about special requests. I figure we'll take what we get. But then again...

We arrive so late in the day (after check-in), maybe if we requested one of those larger rooms on a higher floor, we could have a good chance at getting it.

Again, what do you think? :confused3

I would definitely make a request. I'm not sure about a request hurting your chance of an upgrade. I checked online and the Disney resorts are pretty booked the week we're there, so upgrades may be far and few between.

I'd request the bigger room on the higher floor with a balcony. The balconcy will give you some extra space too. You can sit out there with a cocktail in the evening.

We requested the Tahiti longhouse in January and got it. This time, we requested a room on the 3rd floor in the same longhouse. Apparently we'll have a better MK view. Well, that's what a CM told me.

Make your request. Do you really want to be close to the pool? Close to the pool means more noise. And I'm sure the bus stops aren't THAT far away.

What are the room categories at the BC?

My dentist is not hot at all. He's very sweet, but not hot.

This post has absolutely nothing to do with Disney. But I just think it'll be interesting information.

In reference to "dentists": Earlier today I emailed my sister to see if she had heard from her son's in-laws who live in Brownsville, TX and have been in the midst of Hurricane Dolly. She replied that they made it through the storm without incident.

And she added that they live VERY close to the border and that once I get settled, I should go visit and have them show me where to shop in Mexico, especially for prescriptions and major dental work. A young American female dentist in their church has her practice in Mexico, and does great work. My nephew's mother-in-law's mother, who lives in the Cleveland area, flys down to visit AND go to the dentist!

Of course, I realize that Texas is a very large state and driving from Austin to Brownsville is not just a 'short hop'.

Great idea! I don't remember this store. Is it new? Is it on Main Street?

I don't think that the shop is new but I think that the building your own mickey ears is new. It is in the square with City Hall and Tony's. If you stand next to Tony's with Tony's on your right, then I believe that it will be right in front of you. (i.e. it is attached to the candy shop)

She will take pictures. She always does. Here is what she said, and I quote:

"I am on a mission to complete this research paper for my friend about whether his schlong is as big as they say it is."

Trust me, there will be pictures. :rotfl2:

Do you think the wig will fly off when he's jamming to Unskinny Bop??

Susan and Jackie, YouTube George Michael's Outside video. It's the funniest thing I've ever seen.

Unskinny bop bop bop ....

You're right. That is hilarious. I have so many comments about it I don't know where to start. I like the song alot. Now I know why I've never seen the video on TV. I think the guy who choreographed the Thriller video must have done choreography. I wasn't sure if I could watch 5:50 of it, but it was like a train wreck. Some of the shots had a Grand Theft Auto feel to them. Whoa.

Unskinny bop.

Do you see the dancing? And the disco urinals??? You can't even make that stuff up. I want to know where he learned his hot moves :rotfl2: I want to use them at Blush next month.
