When they are in the park? I was trying to think of a way to put ID on my 5 year old in case she gets separated from us. She knows our names and address and phone..but alot of good that would do in the park..she doesn't know our cell. I'd love to put a "hospital type" band on her arm or a necklace with ID on it that she can't lose. Any tried and true tricks to share?

Last fall, we went to WDW with our DD, who had just turned 6. We knew she would be able to tell someone our names and hers if she got seperated from us, but trying to remember our cell phone #s and our resort name would have been too much.

We went to our local Petsmart and got a red, heart shaped tag from the engraving machine. We engraved the Resort name, our dates to stay there, and our cell phone #s. She wore it around her neck on a chain as a necklace. We even made one for her favorite teddy bear, so they would match! :teeth:

Another good idea is to make up a business size card with your info on it, them have it laminated with a hole punched at one end. Your DD could tuck it into a pocket, wear it pinned to her clothing, around her neck, or laced through her shoelace.

We just returned from WDW last week. I put a small luggage tag with our cell numbers on my 4-year-old son's shoe. I just threaded it through laces. I told him that if he couldn't find Mommy or Daddy to go to the nearest "worker" and show them his shoe. Fortunately, he didn't have to use it! He had no trouble keeping the tag on and it didn't bother him at all. We tried a hospital-style bracelet in the past and it always bugged him.

I've always used a shoe pocket for my DD since she was old enough to walk. I used one myself when I ran and didn't want to carry anything. The shoe pocket is big enough for a key, some coins, and identification. It works just as well for children. I fold up my business card and put it in the pocket. It velcros through shoe laces. We've never needed it, but I'm always glad to have it.

I have a dog tag that she wears loosely around her neck (can be removed on certain rides and tucked in shirt on others.)

Seems to be more comfy for her to carry and easy for her to be responsible for. It has her name, her Dad's name and his cell phone number.

I always have my grandson (now 6) carry ID from the moment we leave the house to go to the airport. We used to have one of those wrist bands from "ID Inside." He thought the bracelets were a little bothersome, so we will be looking for some sort of shoe thing or pet ID thing. The other thing I do, along with the ID, is I bring masking tape. Each morning I write down his name, my name, resort, and my cell number on a strip of tape. Then I tape it to the side of his shirt, under his arm, so it's not obvious. That great little hint I got from these boards. :)

When DS was much younger I even did this for the first day's of school each year. I was always afraid he'd get on the wrong bus or something.

Just remember not to put too much identifying info in an obvious place. Things that would allow a stranger (meaning possible harm) to "connect" w/ your child and gain their trust by knowing this info.

I think a necklace or show tag w/ your names, resort, and #'s are perfect. Most kids will know their own names and can tell the CM's.

I made tags for each my kids from the mickey paint chips at Home Depot. I put our cell phone numbers and the name and phone number of the resort. I found ID badges, I think at walmart, that I laminated these little cards inside of. The badges had a loop on one end that I tied through a belt loop or put in their fanny pack. I never thought to make one for DH, he is the only one we lost, and he didn't know my cell phone number!
