Do you love your state?

I love living in my state! California is great especially my city, San Diego. Can't beat the weather or friendly, easy going people.:boat:

I love San Diego! Our plans are to retire in the San Diego area. We'd love Coronado, but we'd have to win the lottery.

You will probably find closed-minded people pretty much everywhere. Except maybe California. I still do pretty well in Austin but I agree that living there is pricey. As it is in California...

We've lived here since 1990. It has changed so much!! It used to be a cool, hippy-ish college town. Then the tech companies moved in and brought all the fuddy duddies. Not that I'm complaining about the tech industry in Austin. It bought me my house! In the burbs...

My brother lives in Round Rock and complains about the same thing. It's a shame.

We would welcome you with open arms:grouphug: Yes, Coronado is beautiful, If I could ,I would maybe rent a teeny, tiny, apartment or tent on the beach. LOL I live only 30 minutes away, so nice to visit:) plus Disneyland only 1 1/2 hours away:wizard:

DH and I have always lived in upstate NY and for the most part we love it!
They economy has always been strained around here so the economy tanking really hasn't effected us. We are building a new house this summer and the price pales in comparison to some of the houses I see for sale around the country! ( Our brand new modular with most updates is about $150,000. In some parts of the country that would not get you a shack!

Our kids all attend the same school as we did and have many of the same teachers as we did.
I can't imagine moving ever; maybe when we are retired we will spend 1/2 here and half in WDW! :goodvibes Disney would probally be the only way I'd ever move!:cutie:

Hate living in Minnesota. Hate the terrible winters and the lack of sunshine. Hate all the swamps (some call them "lakes" LOL), and detest the snow.

I don't love living in MN, it's just ok. I've been here almost 8 years and I'm not sure I can do another 5-month winter! May through September is nice. There are certainly things I like about living here, but we really picked the wrong suburb to buy a house in, at the exact top of the real estate market, so now we're stuck. I feel too land-locked in the midwest - not because I need to see the ocean, but because it's a looooooonngg drive or a flight to get anywhere else.
I grew up in NJ - one hour from NYC. I miss bagels and Broadway and our whole family is still there. I'm not sure if that's where I'd want to move to and certainly don't think we could afford it! I've got my sights set on southern California, but I know there are cons there too.

Depends on where I am. The only reason I stay in Oregon is b/c the kids are here. I hate it here though. Seriously, there's about 3 weeks of spring and 2 months of summer. The rest is rain. Love Florida. Trying to get the kids to move there with me, but the ex puts the kaibosh on that crap right away. It's a shame too b/c my youngest son has a real chance to play Division I college baseball, but is behind the curve b/c you can only play for about 4 months here, as opposed to 10 months in Florida.

I lived in KY my whole life couldn't wait to bust away, a year and half ago I moved to Colorado (foothills area) - thought I would LOVE it, no rain, no humidity, sunshine all the time, beautiful views, etc....I HATED it!
Everything I complained about in KY I missed terribly while living in CO. I hated the constant sunshine (I like the different days, rain/sun/cloudy), the high altitude was awful, no rain (means less green) also means VERY DRY & DUSTY, hated not having lots of tree's and green - found CO to very BROWN, ppl wasn't near as nice, winter seems to last FOREVER, BUT, most of all I hated not being in the South - I personally like our food and ways better here :) So I packed up and moved back - don't care to ever leave again...lesson learned! I must say...I now have a greater appreciation for ALL the things I thought I hated in KY.
Just my two cents!

Thanks for sharing your story. I really enjoy hearing about people's experiences

I think it all depends where you grew up. I grew up in OH, PA, VA and CT.

So, now I am in Southern CA, San Diego to be exact and I would move tomorrow if I had the chance. I would pack up with a smile on my face and a song in my heart!!!

Too much city, not enough "country". The landscape is dry and spiky and concrete, the weather is too much sameness and the people are not Midwesterners.

All the reasons that most people like San Diego, I don't.

Oh, and when I retire, I WILL not live in a tourist destination. "nuff said!!!!!

One of he reasons I love San Diego.... the people are so friendly and welcoming!

I love San Diego and Southern CA too. Our good friends moved to San Diego last year and we visited in February. I do not like to drive so I would need to live in a good walking town (La Jolla, Coronado, Laguna Beach etc.) and that means $$$. Or I would have to get a lot more comfortable driving:) I always wanted to move to CA since I was young. DH's sister moved there after college and we lost her and her boyfriend in a car accident 2 years ago- so some painful memories there for DH. He would go if we got a good job offer though. We would be far from both sets of parents though.

I'm in Colorado and I love it! I love all of the sunshine. No humidity. Sometimes I wish I was closer to a beach, but that's what vacation is for right?

Nope, never have, and been stuck here my whole life. I do love my City ( Chicago) however, I would much rather enjoy it on vacation visiting from another state..preferably Florida.

Yes, I do. :goodvibes

Sure, there are some things I don't like about it, but I have no desire to live anywhere else. We love being near the ocean - there's nothing like the sound and smell of the sea. Fresh seafood and chowder - to die for! Around here, you're immersed in history no matter where you go. People from Boston share a cameraderie that's hard to explain. ("Love That Dirty Water! ) I work in the medical mecca here that others have referred to, and I admit, it's pretty cool. Everything and everyone I know is here (just about) so it's where my roots are and where my heart is. Snow Bird? Maybe. Leave altogether? Doubt it. "Boston You're My Home!" :)

Yes & No currently considering the fact we really havent even started spring yet and it's may I would love to move and get away from the rain. I would really love to move to the east coast in the next 5 years or so but I think I'm stuck here till I finish college due to the growing price of out of state tution. Washington is really a beautiful state but I would love to move out on one of the islands to get it's full beauty. I think Virginia might be a good fit for me since I need my summer but I also need my winter and I find it awfully beautiful!

I'm originally from Wisconsin, which I love. I'm living in NC right now, and I hate it here because it's always so hot and humid.

I would love to find a place any/some/all the following things!

1. A walkable city/Suburb with a healthy transportation system of trains/ light rail / Trolley or bus transport.
2. Modern looking city or a European looking city along with plenty of public parks and museums. I'd be happen with either.
3. 1920-60's style brick homes in good neighborhoods. To many times I've looked online and found these gorgeous homes only to see the area run down and with high crime statistics.
4. I also love the older California style architecture.
5. LOVE Modern or Lofty type condo's and townhomes with a price tag under 200-225k
5. lots of Sunny day (even cold sunny days!)
6. Snow is Fine for a season....Not half the year:rotfl:
7. Within 3 hours- 4 hours of an ocean would be fabulous

Where can I find this dream town/city/suburb?:cloud9: I've kinda been looking at Charlotte NC and Denver CO and they seem to have things that appeal to me. Except Denver is a bit far from Disney.....
