Do You LOVE Mickey Waffles?????

I know I am not the only FW camper who has passion for those Mickey Waffles at the Trails End. Well a couple of years back I set out to learn how to make them at home. The reciepes I found on line, were not the real deal.

Our next trip to FW, we went to the source. We asked Willie, one of the Chefs working the Breakfast Buffet. He brought out the bag of mix that they use to mix up that golden batter.

We bought the batter and a Mickey Waffle maker, and like magic we had our genuine Mickey Waffles!!!!!

THat is awsome. I love the waffles at disney. Infact I am going in a couple of weeks and I made lots of adr's just so i can get my fix of waffles.

That is so neat! Did you just buy the first item listed - the just add water one? You didn't buy the flour, did you?

In any case, my DS is still talking about the waffles from our first trip! He always eats mulitples! Thanks for being brave enough to ask!

Yes we bought the add water mix. It may be even more authentic if you buy the flour and add the eggs, etc. If you do get it, we found that the first few weren't as good as the last ones made. I think that the waffle iron has to be as hot as can be. Let it have a long time to heat up. Then make sure you crisp them up really well too. We used up our batch of the mix and havn't ordered more. Thankfully we live close enough to sneak over every now and then

This isn't related to Mickey waffles exactly, but how do you get your waffles really crispy?? I make waffles at home sometimes and mine never are as nice, golden brown and crispy as you'd get in a restaurant! The Mickey waffles are making me hungry!

Well, that is just what I have tried to perfect as well. Like I said earlier, it seems like the longer the waffle iron is on, the better the waffles get. So I think that the key is a very hot waffle iron, and let them cook just a little longer than you might think.

Maybe someone else out there is more of an expert?!????
