Gunmen have stolen Edvard Munch's famous paintings The Scream and Madonna in a daring daylight raid on a museum in Norway. The armed men burst into the Oslo building and ordered a museum worker to hand over the priceless works in front of terrified visitors.

I don't like it - I think it's ugly!

who decides what is good, it looks like a 3rd graders to me

I don't like it either.

It looks disturbing to me.

I never liked that painting. It's still sad it is stolen.

That is a picture of how I look when I look at that picture.

It used to be my brother's fav painting. I'll have to call him and
see what he thinks. He drug me to an exhibit once to sit in
front of it for an hour. LOL!

Munch, Edvard Munch, Edvard

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(b. Dec. 12, 1863, Löten, Nor.--d. Jan. 23, 1944, Ekely, near Oslo)
Norwegian painter and printmaker whose intense, evocative treatment of psychological and emotional themes was a major influence on the development of German Expressionism in the early 20th century. His painting The Cry (1893) is regarded as an icon of existential anguish.

A gifted Norwegian painter and printmaker, Edvard Munch not only was his country's greatest artist, but also played a vital role in the development of German expressionism. His work often included the symbolic portrayal of such themes as misery, sickness, and death. The Cry, probably his most familiar painting, is typical in its anguished expression of isolation and fear.

I remember studying this painting in Art History........it is also much used in print advertising .You have to admit it's very symbolic of someone screaming-right?

It has always intrigued me therefore it is a favorite.

Without the Munch painting could we have ever had  or McCauley Caulkin in "Home Alone"

I'm supposed to look at it and see isolation and fear?

it is an odd piece.. but does make me feel eerie, uneasy, uncomfortable and sad... therefore it evokes emotion which is essential in a piece of art. so it did it's job!

as for the thieves.. you know their mama's taught them better!
bad boys!

I like it. Munch did another one, I can't remember the name of it right now, that I like more, but I like this one. It's the kind of painting I could do.:p

I find it very haunting.

I don't "like" it but I do think it is emotionally impactful. It's an important work of art and I'm saddened that it has been stolen. Wonder what the thief will do with it. It's not like you can sell it or really display it at your house..

I don't like it. It shows terror to me. Haunting is an EXCELLENT word of how I feel when I see it.

But I will admit it makes me think and I would like to see more just to gage my reactions to them.
