Do you look up words you do not know?

Whenever I come across a word that I don't know what it means usually go online to look it up or I write it down to look up later. Today's word was {ubiquity}, I had never heard of it before and didn't know what it meant so I just looked it up. Do y'all ever do that or am I the only odd ball in the bunch?

If you're an "odd ball" then I'm even worse.. Sometimes I'll just sit and read the dictionary - LOL.. I've even brought it to the beach with me.. I love "words" and I love to read.. :)

Yes, I do. I'm off to look up ubiquity.

Sure, I look things up all the time... you have to keep learning in life :goodvibes

I must confess that I've had a love affair with words myself. I usually use Dictionary.com.

I do it frequently. It's a great way to expand one's vocabulary.

And for those who want to know:

Ubiquity
Main Entry: ubiq·ui·ty
Pronunciation: -kw&-tE
Function: noun
: presence everywhere or in many places especially simultaneously : OMNIPRESENCE

I LOVE dictionary.com! I am forever looking up words, or asking someone what they mean.

I always google a word and find out what it means. or dictionary.com. I do this all the time. or I'll ask someone, but I tend to be the someone who is asked, so it is easier to just look it up myself.

I always look up words I don't know (on dictionary.com). How is someone going to learn what things mean if they don't look them up?

All the time!

Not so much in real life, but for school I do it all the time. I keep massive notes.

I look up words I dont know. I am trying to get the sweetpea into that habit as well. We play a lot of scrabble together so we look up lots of words. The dictionary is kept quite handy at home.

Never.

I'd say 90% of the time I can figure out the meaning from the context but if I can't then I just skip it. I used to rip pages out of the dictionary to prevent having to do definitions.

I think my biggest problem is that I have a learning disability that affects spelling. I can not spell at all and it was tourture to look up things that I had no clue how to spell (except the 1st letter of course.)

I just did it tonight..and I do it often! There is nothing worse than being in graduate school and hearing a professor use words that I probably should know but don't. So, I just look them up when I get home!

If it's a really big word, I'll just go on using it in fun creative ways. I figure most people don't know what I'm talking about most times anyway, so what difference does it make in the long run.

I always look up words I don't know ~ You have to keep learning.
