Lord, yes. When I was 13 I was often taken for over 30. I really liked suits with bow-ties at that time (early 70's), and that contributed, I'm sure.
Of course, the downside is that now that I'm in my late 40's I'm often taken to be in my 60's. This gets interesting because I have a 2yo; people constantly assume that she's my grandchild, but I've had some folks actually guess great-granddaughter! I guess I should be thankful that the senior discounts are worth something, right?
My eldest sister went to high school in the 50's, and if you look at her yearbook, almost everyone looks old by today's standards. This isn't her school, but take a look at this photo of the 1958 golf team at New Trier High School ...
