I stopped locking doors after I had 3 windows broken when thieves stole the radio, on 3 separate occasions. Hopefully, they'll notice next time that the door is UNLOCKED!! And, we now also park in a locked garage.

Something else that I do, I leave the keys AND my purse in the unlocked van when I'm walking DD into school. Just too lazy to carry it all I guess.

Sometimes I do but like Elaine, it is a habit. I just automatically hit that remote lock when I exit the car.

I always lock my car doors. It comes from living just down the road from a private school when I was growing up. One Sat am, my mom went to get in her car to go somewhere and the car was trashed inside: beer sprayed all over the inside, beer cans and food wrappers on the floor, etc. Apparently some of the good Catholic private school students had a party in my mom's car Fri night. And we weren't the only family that got vandalized that night. Since then, I always lock my cars no matter where they are!

Always lock when I get out of the car. If I didn't I know I would forget when I should. That's what happens after 40!

You should. Know why?

Cause small children can climb inside & not know how to get out. There was a very,very sad story in my area about 2 small children who climbed inside an unlocked car (a strangers) and died from the heat.

yes we do. We never used to with our old car, but with this new one we seem to. As to why, I really haven't a clue

I don't have a garage, just a parking pad. I never lock my car, but I always lock the van....I guess because it's got the remote lock.

Lisa L and I are living parallel lives. I also never lock my house and don't even have a house key on my keychain. DH has one (and hates that I don't) so we do lock it when we'll be out of town. It's just too much hassle with a kid in each arm and I suppose I'm just a trusting person. I'm the mom that leaves the Halloween candy in a bowl on the front porch for the trick-or-treaters to help themselves
