Do you like your cell phone?

So my next question is...Is it possible to take my Motorola i730 (which has the little Cingular logo on it) to Sprint and have them give me a number through that phone? Geez...I'm thinking I should have gone to Nextel just because they do have this model! Stuck for 2 years?

You generally (I never heard of it) can not use the phone of one carrier with another. The phone intruments work only with those cariers, and Nextel is even more specific than the others. Check out www.howardforums.com ,an online BBB like this, but only for cell phones. It is moderated, but a tad crude at times, (nothing awful). It is informative.

I hate my phone. It's a Virgin Mobile. It's not a kind of phone for me, but I guess I have to wait to get a new one

It depends on the system the phone is set up for. The sprint phones are CDMA and verison is if I remember correctly GSM they have a little card in them with info encoded on it similar to an access card for your direct tv. You can take any GSM phone to any carrier with GSM service and same with CDMA phones on other CDMA networks.

Thanks, Dan! :teeth:

DNY FN...Cingular told me that I just needed a new sim card in the back of my phone that would give me a VA number. It cost about $20. I wanted to think about it. I called back a couple days later and spoke to someone else who told me I couldn't do that. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! That started the whole thing with going to Sprint. I'd MUCH rather have Cingular! If they ever get into this area, Sprint will be dropped like a hot potato.

Pin Wizard most carriers will try and tell you you need a new phone they get a better spif also known as kickback from the carrier if you get a new phone and contract than if you just get a new sim card and number from the new carrier. Call back and talk to one of the techs from the ohter company and then go and buy a new sim card I bet you have no problems. I buy sprint phones off e bay all the time and sell them up here to people wanting better phones at a better price. I then call sprint get all the unlock codes for the phones and then call bell and have the phones set up on the new network without any problems.

Thans, DSNY FN. I'll call them. They would have to mail the sim card siince the nearest Cingular store is 40 or 45 miles away. Not going there! And they also told me they don't have any towers in this area of VA. :(

I have Cingular, and currently, I stay mad at my Cingular service. It's been very inconsistent. I hope that means they're putting up more GPS (or whatever they're called) towers.

Browneyes it is GSM and towers that get put up can and usually do have a number of different carriers on them. I used to install towers and wireless equipment for a living. Pin Wizard good luch you really should have no problems if they try and give you the run around talk to someone higher up it usually solves alot of if not all the problems of dealing with the usually inadequatley trained first level tech support people that are told and prompted on what to do and say.

Sorry to hear that, Shannon. :(

DSNY FN...Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

No problem Pin Wizard hope it all works out for you keep me posted I will help out in any way I can.
Darren
