Do you like when people just 'pop in'?

No, no, no.....I don't do pop in's. When we lived within an hour of my parents they were very understanding about this. One of my so called friends was not understanding. In fact, she was actually upset at the fact that she couldn't pop in when she felt like it. Now I am not the greatest house cleaner and if I am going to have company, I would like time to clean up. Not to mention if you have plans to do something, it can be hard to get people to leave once they get there.

Ugh! I hate this too! It's one thing if it is a close friend or family member--when I was married to my ex, I couldn't go past the driveway without bumping into some kind of relative, we live in a small town and his family is HUGE (they have a street and the library named after them--been here forever and a day). But we've been divorced for over 6 years, and although I'm on friendly terms with everyone (including he and his new wife), we aren't on 'drop by' terms any longer.

But the weirdest thing is this year, I've had 3 totally bizarre drop-by's! The first was a former friend who was such a horse's behind, I choose to quietly discourage the friendship--I just couldn't tolerate being around him anymore. Well, I'm home sick from work one day, the doorbell rings....and it is him! After almost 3 years of not seeing one another! Egads!

The next one was a Sunday morning, I'm in my jammies eating brunch, enjoying my peace and quiet (kids were at Dad's for the weekend) and ding-dong--it's a psycho ex-boyfriend I haven't even spoken with since we broke up 4 years ago!! That one kinda spooked me, I checked all the locks and such for days after that....

Then a week after that, 2 brethren from my former church stopped by for fellowship....mind you, I left that church almost 7 years ago.....and one of them was actually part of an elderly couple whose company I really enjoyed....but it being a VERY hot and VERY muggy evening, I'd been sitting in my Living Room in a tank top and underpants. Yi! Not exactly prepared for company....

I have a story about this! Simular to the inlaws.

I was at my apartment and there was a leak in the apartment above. I worked at the office of the apartement building and it was the middle of the day.

Well, the maintence guys assumed I was at work, but it was my day off. They walked in, (they had keys) and I didnt hear them. I walked out of my bedroom completely unclothed:earseek:

They were embarrased for not knocking. They always knocked from then on out!;)

I don't mind at all...if I am home I welcome anyone that wants to stop by...well everyone other than the religious creeps that knock on my door trying to sell me on their religion......but other than them I am fine with anyone dropping by as long as its after 9am and before 10pm....

I don't like it, unless its someone I'm very close to like my SIL or my best friend. But even with them I'm still embarrassed if the house is a mess.

I don't like it when people just drop in. It always seems that I am in the middle of something and the house is a mess (at least in my eyes). My DH is like it looks fine, don't worry.
So than I spend the next several minutes trying to straighten things up. STRESS that could have been avoided if they would just call first.

I hate it!!! I won't answer the door either sometimes.... Once, my DH's friend (who totally lacks common sense) stopped by while we were getting ready to go out to eat. When DH answered the door he told him this. His friend asked if he should leave and DH said it was okay to stay but we had to leave in about 15 min. Well, when we head out to the garage we figure his friend would keep walking out to his car to go home. Instead, he stands by the passenger side door waiting to get in! DH says "What are you doing??" He says "Oh, should I wait til you back out of the garage?"
