Amazing deals and great selection. We wouldn't have been able to set up an apartment for so cheap if we didn't have Walmart.

But no, I don't LOVE it. I don't get the warm fuzzies when I walk in or anything. I'm usually a get in and get out kind of person because they can be so ridiculous in terms of lines and crowds.

It is always my first stop on Black Friday though!

I don't like Wal-Mart. I go there maybe a handful of time per year. I'll pay more to shop elsewhere and be happy about it. :)

Not a fan of WM much-but will go there when out of town. Meijer is the choice for me-very similar to a SWM, but with better prices, double coupons, fresh produce and meats. Received a .50 per gallon discount on gas for spending 50.00 (pre coupon) on groceries last week. All of this without the "freak show" carnival atmosphere.

I just don't see the draw to Target either.

i don't like wal-mart, although i did shop there when i worked at disney world because 1) i had no car, so i had a limited choice of places to get groceries and 2) i had no money, so my choices of places to go was even more limited! i can understand why it appeals to some folks, but for a big part of why i don't like wal-mart, read NICKEL AND DIMED by barbara ehrenreich.

I am not a huge fan of Walmart, but i admit shopping there 2-3 times a week. It is definatley cheaper than the grocery store and when you are on a budget, well that's where i have to go. It's one stop shopping for me. I go early in the morning so there is not rush nor long lines. They are building a Target and hopefully that will open soon. I like Target's atmosphere so much better.

If anyone has ever been to Ft Wayne, Indiana, it is not a huge city. We have 3 Super Wal-Marts with one more being built right now. We love Wal-Mart. It is the only store we will buy our groceries, health & beauty, toys etc at. I don't usually buy their clothes though. Every once in a while I may buy the kids a shirt or something but usually we shop at Kohl's, Old Navy, Children's Place or GAP for clothes.

I must say our Wal-Marts are pretty clean. There are rude people everywhere and that will not stop me from saving money. :)

IMHO it must be a lot like KMart is some ways. Some areas must be total dumps while others are spotless and beautiful.
You hear these HORROR stories about Walmarts but if you were to come to the one I just shopped at ( about an hour ago) you would see a VERY clean well organized store with wonderful employees!
DS was checking out behind me and dh had already taken off. Well ds didnt have the change that he thought he did but the cashier just gave it to him, Now I dont make a practice of this sort of thing (and had DH not just left with my wallet it wouldnt have been neccesary at all) but I thought it was vey nice, It was only 38 cents but it was the gesture that made all of the difference. DS said wow that lady is really nice! :)

I love that Walmart, its a Super Walmart and you can't beat the prices on most things there. Now mind you we dont hvae a Super Target and ive heard good things about them, but I will continue to shop at Walmart :)

I shop between Wallys and Fred Meyer most of the time with a few trips to ALbertsons for their deals.

I agree with whoever said that they loathe Walmart. I cringe whenever I have to go in there (which is rare). The reasons we do not shop there are numerous but the one major reason is that on at least 3 different occasions we have gotten bad meat there. Once it was ground beef, another time it was chicken and the third and final time it was pork. Luckily the package smelled so badly that we didn't even cook it. I also agree with the overall lack of helpfulness on the employees part and the store itself is just disorganized and crowded :sad2: Luckily there is a target just next door so I just bypass Walmart and head to Target :goodvibes

The Super WM by our house is nasty. It's dirty, never stocked, and everyone who shops there has 15 kids. :teeth:

There's another Super WM about 10 miles away that is actually pretty nice, but since we have to drive by 3 Publix and a Super Target to get there, we only go about once a month.

I guess it's more about location than anything else. For us, it's Super Target all the way. I'll gladly spend 2% more and have a good experience...plus they have a Starbucks too!

I go to great lengths to avoid WM and am thrilled they rarely have anything I want. I'll order some things online and pay more just to avoid shopping there. True...many of my throw rugs and towels could have easily been purchased there but I *chose at will* to order online through Penneys and pay more.

The only way I'd purchase food at WM is if it's a product *prepackaged* from the manufacturer. I don't trust their quality control where fresh meat and seafood is concerned. :bitelip:

So, to answer the OP's question...no, I don't like WM!

WM does NOT have a Butcher or Meat cutter as Publix does. Thier meat is pre-- packaged and has 10% water in it, in other words its NOT fresh! :sad2: So I would AVOID thier Meat and also thier Deli meat is nasty, no Boars Head sold there.

I'm not so much put off by WalMart employees, who, in my mind, do a lot with the little that they have. Life has not been kind to most of them. Through no merit of my own, life has been kinder to me. I am going to be correspondingly kind to the employees.

I'm not even so much put off by the condition of the stores, which I think is repulsive. Am I willing to put up with repulsive to get 30% off life's necessities? Absolutely. But from the parking lot through to the registers, the condition of the stores around me is brutal.

My objection to WalMart is this: the other customers look like they're suffering. I was in there today buying detergent, and I watched a woman basically abuse the oldest of her three young children right in front of me. As she twisted the kid's arm until it nearly broke, she clearly had PENNIES to her name. And she was pregnant with the fourth. I made a turn towards the registers down one of the processed food aisles, and I couldn't get around two customers - clearly a couple, and easily 500 lbs. each - as they maneuvered their ECVs down the aisle. Their ECV carts were heaped with crap. One of them was holding nothing but beef jerky - bags and bags. I then waited in line between two customers wearing zero deodorant. The one in front of me put his frozen chicken cutlets down on the conveyor, and they had sufficiently thawed to the point where they were leaching chicken water all over the lane. I wouldn't put down my Tide for fear of e coli. The gal at the register, in her defense, was clueless. I was fairly sure she'd never heard of e coli.

That's my objection to WalMart, in a nutshell.

If money was not an object, I can honestly say I may choose not to patronize Walmart. BUT, unfortunately, I need to make ends meet and I have found that our SuperWalmart is SOOO much cheaper than our local grocery chains. I would rather shop at the one located in the better neighborhood, because they have a better selection of clothes and it is cleaner, but I appreciate the better pricing at Walmart.

The money I save at Walmart can pay my higher gas, electric and insurance bills.

I LOVE our Walmart. The employees there are great and super friendly. I go frequently and after I'm away for a week they all greet me like a long lost friend. Great place and great bargains.

I voted "It's okay". I've found that Walmart quality varies from location to location. Near my house, I have two Targets within 15 minutes and they're both very nice. The Walmart is gross and I will only go if I'm looking for something specific that I can't get anywhere else.

When I went to college, the Walmarts were nicer than the Target. The Walmart closest to my parents vacation home is brand new and is very nice.

I voted that Walmart is OK. It is OK for things that you would pay more for somewhere else, if it is the identical item. It has been in my experience that this is not always the case, so, I usually shop before buying. Walmart in our area would be a very poor place to try to buy weekly groceries (we have one of the super Walmarts). They have a poor selection of produce which is frequently past its peak. They don't have items that I usually purchase on a routine basis. I find that Meijer (another super store chain in the midwest) has a superior selection of produce and grocery items at reliably good prices compared to Kroger and Marsh (a grocery chain here in Indiana). I get the convenience of being able to buy nearly anything I would need anytime 24 hours a day at Meijer. It also helps that Meijer is 10 minutes from home, and the nearest Walmart 20. But, I also preferred Meijer when I lived closer to Walmart than I did to Meijer. If I didn't have Meijer, I might go to Walmart more often.
