Yes, but rarely shop there

I love Walmart, but can only shop there while on vacation in the US, and even then I don't always manage to go.
I love it to stock on supplies they don't sell in Belgium, and that I "import" from the US, because it's cheap.

But I also love Target for the exact same reason :)
And Macy's
And the Disney Store
and Best Buy
and
and
and

lol!

I shop there frequently. I have frankly never been in a Wal Mart and seen the kind of service many people here mention. Yes, the stores are big (that's why they have everything I need). Yes, they have a chaotic way of stocking (probably because it's cheaper to do it during normal hours instead of paying a premium at night). And yes, you can see all the wonderful sides of humanity there (but I can see that at Disney too, and I still love going there!). And yes, it's crowded (same as the Disney comment).

Bottom line for me is this. I can get everything I need, at the lowest total prices. I am somewhat sensitive to the issues with their work practices. But again, they are well known for hiring the handicapped (most of the greeters are in wheelchairs). As far as I'm concerned, it's the best store for my money.

there was a whole thread on this a while back!!! actually there have been several.. LOL..

I voted okay.

This is my opinion on Wal-Mart:
I don't like Wal-Mart :sad2: , but I like their prices :thumbsup2

Why I say this:
Because the one by use is so stuffed with stuff that it looks messy. It has tons of stuff in the center of main isles that it's hard to move around when they are crowded. I just don't like it :sad2: But their prices bring me back every time!!

Exactly what Slo said. I couldn't have said itbetter myself

I love Wal Mart. So does my husband. Ours is usually pretty crowded, but I can't say it's dirty, maybe messy at times, so what? We get great deals there, they always have what we want, and it's close to home. :thumbsup2

I shop at Super Walmart (SW) b/c all the smaller stores have disappeared (that's another thread topic). I have Meijer, Walmart, and SuperTarget to choose from (and large supermarket chains). Any way, as a family of 5 we need low prices. I need more bang for my buck. A big reason I shop at our Super Walmart is b/c I don't have to drag my kids to a bunch of different stores for various items.

I can find most of what I need at our Super Walmart, the store is always clean (bathrooms too), and the people who I see are mostly friendly.

I can go to SW almost every other day if I had to. Really, I've done it!

Do most of our shopping at Wal*Mart :) !!!! Can't beat the prices. However I do like Target also!

So what happened to K-Mart! tsk tsk tsk! How are they still in Business?

As some one from Bentonville, AR, and the Home of WALMART, I have to say I like walmart. Admitedly I think they go a bit over board with super centers, neighborhood markets, and sams clubs. We only have 3 stores in our city alone. Kmart and Target don't have a chance here.

Yes it does get crowded so i go during the not busy hours. I'm a SAHM so I can go during the day when most people are at work.

Actually on our first trip to florida (1 day at U.S.) my daughter got a tick and we ended up having to take her to the ER to have it removed. They put her on Antibiotics because it was very inflamed. DH went to walmart to fill the perscription and discovered he didn't have our perscrption insurance card. He was able to tell the pharmisist to call to store number 001 and get our records from there. At first the guy didn't believe we went to store 001, but when he finally called they quickly got the needed information and we got the perscription.

Walmart also does alot for local comunities. My dd's Kindergarten teacher was named teacher of the year and given a $1000 gift card.

Anyway thats just my 2 cents worth

We have no problem with Wal-Mart. We have 2 new stores near us. Both are clean and well-stocked. Of course, prices are good. We buy household items there, toiletries, sometimes electronics and some clothing. I've never had a problem with the quality of anything we've purchased there.

Also, Wal-Mart is one of the relatively few big stores in the area that allows the Girl Scouts to set up and sell cookies. DD's troop has sold there the past 2 years and always does extremely well on those days. Target won't allow this (we've asked repeatedly).

I like it b/c I can find so much of what I need and at good prices.

As someone from a more rural area, it would be nice to be in the position of most of you where you have a choice! There are only dollar stores, a grocery store and a small "mart" store here.

It is a once a week (usually) trip of around an hour to even get to a Wal-Mart. Any Target is at least 2 hours away.

Our town is scheduled to get a Wal-Mart in 2007 to go along with a huge flood prevention project that is essentially tearing down our town and moving it out of the flood plain. (grundyvirginia.com)

We will be happy for the convenience to say the least. I don't love Wal-Mart, but it does offer much more than what has been available in the past. It will make that part of our lives easier.

No. Their prices aren't much cheaper than Target, and their stores are dirty and unorganized. I also hate that they don't have price check stations because their shelves are poorly labeled and nothing is ever in its right place.

I would rather make three stops at other stores than just one at the local Wal-Mart. :sad2:

I really like Walmart for a number of reasons.

We don't have many grocery options in our area .. and Walmart has much better prices overall than HEB the main grocery store in the San Antonio area.

I can usually find anything I need there grocery or otherwise - and once again prices are usually better - AND quality is the same as Target (other than clothes - ) But clothes are hit or miss at either to me - depending on who did the buying for this season. Sometimes Target just has weird stuff - but lately Walmart's been as bad... I like Kohls for clothes.

As to clean/dirty - I think it just depends on the manager. We have two Targets within 45 minutes of us - one is FILTHY - and the people are RUDE. The other is very clean and pleasant - and the people are just so/so friendly. Of the 2 Walmarts within 45 minutes - one is so/so on cleanliness and friendliness - but the OTHER.... Well to be honest it's like being at Disney.. and I'm not kidding. It's spotless and the people seem like they took their training straight from Disney... laugh. They are incredibly helpful and customer service oriented ... AND they are very well staffed... NEVER a wait.. (tho' to be honest we never have to wait at the other Walmart either ..but both Targets do have issues with the number of registers open.).

Like I said - I really think it depends on management - NOT the chain as to friendliness and cleanliness of a store.

Ok I wanna know where this Disney-esque Wal-Mart near SA is. The one I"m closest too (281/1604) is NASTY. I'd consider that an upper middle class area too. On the rare occasion I go there (maybe once a year) I feel dirty when I leave. I've never had an issue with lines at the SuperTarget (1604/Blanco) but I don't really like the one at the Forum.

All and all I carry a pretty strong dislike for WalMart. I don't find the prices to be that much better and for what I buy their quality is marginal. Their produce is the worst which isn't saying much because Target's can be iffy and so can the local grocery chain. I find myself heading to speciality retailers like Whole Food and Central Market just to get decent produce.

FWIW - I've never seen a clean or orderly WalMart (and I've lived in 7 states). I don't think they are worth the hassle.

I've got 2 Walmarts within about 10 miles of my home. Can't stand to go to either of them. They are so messy! I just can't stand to shop in a mess.

We have a few wal-marts within a fairly close distance. One has a Subway and that store is probably the neatest and cleanest. Another has a McD's - that one is the super-wm. Third one was a regular wal-mart that is currently being remodeled into a super-wm. It used to have it's own generic snack-bar in it before the remodel. I'm interested in seeing what it'll have after. The other close one is a regular wm and has a McD's.

I like the one we stop at when we go to WDW because there is a Sonic in there.

Where is the walmart with the sonic in it? I wish we had sonic in maryland that would be like heaven

I feel your pain. I think the nearest Sonic is near Williamsburg, VA next to a Wal-Mart there.

Sigh...

In the past I might of but not now. Ours has turned into a big flea market. Messy and poor management.

It's at 35/3009 near Garden Ridge... It's really quite nice.

The one at 281/1604 is the one closest to us too - I wouldn't say it's nasty - nasty is one I visited in Durham, NC on vacation... laugh... it was HORRIBLE - you'd think they were going out of business the shelves were so poorly stocked... That one was in an "upper middle class" neighborhood too.

The thing I hate about the one at 281/1604 most is the parking - I always hate finding a space there .. but I rarely have to wait at check out.. they always seem to have plenty of help.

The one in New Braunfels is hit or miss in my opinion - as is the one at Nacadoches by Rolling Oaks mall... sometimes they seem clean - other times they're a mess.. :confused3
