.....have you read any good books lately?

What have been your favourite books? :)

i'm currently reading december 6 by martin cruz smith. it's good so far. :)

Lincoln Child and Douglas preston........they co write these really bizarre books and they are fantastic......the last one I read a few months ago was Cabinet Of Curiosities.....outstanding.......their other ones were THE RELIC......THE RELIQUARY.....ICE LIMIT.......THUNDERHEAD....MT. DRAGON......and RIPTIDE...read one of these and you will be hooked......

Mostly I read trashy books and I'm proud of it :D I just read julie Garwoods "Mercy" and am waiting for "Killjoy" to come out(next in the series).Pretty much I'll read anything by her,Jude Devareaux or Elizabeth Lowell, although I just read Lowell's "Eden Burning" and discovered after reading it that it was an older book by her that she added on to,gave it a new title and popped it out(it said so at the end of the book). No wonder it all sounded a little familiar  .

Tom Clancy is good too,as is Grisham(not as good as Clancy though). The Dr.Kay Scarpetta series of books is good(can't think of the author) and some others along that vein. That's my summer reading,murder/mystery/M.E. type books.I save the sizzle books for winter ;)

usually trashy beach novels, my fav author is Nora Roberts. I bought 2 books at Costco today, one Roberts, one someone else. I just packed up a very large shopping bag of books to send to a friend in Oregon, at least they will be reread.

What do any of you do with your used books? We have a 2 used book stores nearby, one will not buy anything, they want you to give them your old ones, the other is a Chain, "Half Price Books" they buy , but it is only about 10 cents on the dollar of the price. Then all resales are 1/2 the retail price. Not a real good deal.

I'm really into Mary Higgens Clark lately! They only take a few hours to read, but I can't put them down!

I've been reading some really good books. I'm reading the Spenser series by Robert Parker. Spenser is a detective in Boston. Really good books. :teeth:

I'm reading The Lions Game by Nelson DeMille, I just started it today.

I just finished A Girl Named Zippy, it was O.K.
DH is reading Lovely Bones, so I'll read that one next, we switch off.

I just finished "Bookends" by Jane Green. She is a Brit and writes about slightly desheveled Brit women who live quirky lives and find/lose love. Very funny books - I recommend them! She has also written "Jemima J" and "Bad Heir Day" (heir not hair). So funny! I just bought her new one (can't even remember the name) and will start on it this weekend.
I love Half Price Books. When I go, I'm there for at least an hour, combing through everything! It's amazing some of the things I have found there and have paid next-to-nothing for what I've gotten! The clearance section is a dream - I got the WDW 20th Anniversary Yearbook for $1!!!!!!! Can you believe that? And it's in perfect condition!

Just finished The Murder Book by Jonathan Kellerman (another in the Alex Delaware series). Before that I had read From A Buick 8 by Stephen King.

Always on the lookout for a good book

Did you like that? I've read all of the Kellerman book with Alex Delaware, and they were starting to read the same way....

Is it getting formulaic? Thats the one thing I can't stand about series.. its starts to feel like insert plot twist A, get bad guy B, character C, and tie it up neatly in a bow at the end..

Right now I don't have anything in the house & I can't get to the library. AUGH!! Withdrawal!?!?

I usually go for the lighter murder mysteries - nothing gory or frightening. (OK, I'm a wimp!) Some of my favorites are:
the Mrs Jeffries series - Emily Brightwell
Den of Antiquity series - Tamar Myers
Penn Dutch Inn series - Tamar Myers
Amelia Peabody series - Elizabeth Peters
Lucy Stone series - Leslie Meier
Goldy Bear series - Diane Mott Davidson

I also like the Left Behind series by LaHaye/Jenkins.

Someone on this board told me about a couple of series by Mary Daheim that I've just started. I'm finding them enjoyable, too.

CindyB, I thought this one was pretty good (there are some that I don't care for in the series...the one that comes to mind is The Web). A good hunk of the book (in the beginning) is about Milo when he first became a cop which I thought was different. I'd recommend it.

I'm currently in the midst of the North and South series - on book two - "Love and War".

My favorite author of all time is Diana Gabaldon.

I love to read, but not too much time lately:(

Between all my magazines, I have started reading Catch Me if you Can by Frank Abagnale. I saw the movie and loved it, so I wanted to see how similar it is to the real story. I just started it, and so far it is pretty different from the movie.

Cool thanks! Milo, just becoming an officer... very interesting

Darn, I thought you were going to tell us about a good book that you just read!! LOL:teeth: Anyway, I just finished reading a book called "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold. My husband was on a plane coming home from a business trip when he overheard a few passengers discussing it and he thought it sounded like something I would like, so he bought it for me. I really don't know how to describe it other than it was pretty good, but a little strange. It's about a young girl who was murdered, and she narrarates the whole book. It's not a murder mystery by any means, but more about how her death affected the lives of the people around her. If anyone would like it I'd be more than happy to send it to you.:D

I love to read. Mostly fantasy or sci-fi, but with a little fiction or mystery thrown in.

I just (FINALLY) finished Fellowship of the Ring. I'm not ready to go on to the next books yet because Tolkein can be very hard to read, but I did enjoy the story. :)

By the Light of the Moon by Dean Koontz. I am enjoying it, I think it has given me a couple of nightmares though!!! I Love all Dean Koontz books!

I read everything but romance. I just go to the library and pick a couple of books out of the fiction section and a couple of non-fiction titles and read them.

My all time favorite books are the Harry Potter books. Now, don't groan if you haven't read them! They are wonderful! From someone that has read thousands of books over her lifetime of nearly every genre, these are the best books I have ever read.
