Do you like the King bed in the 1 BR?

  • I love it - all that room!

  • 2 beds would work better for us

Please, the reason DH and I prefer a 1BR to a studio is because of the King Bed. If some of the studios offered a King Bed, we'd be able to save points. We have a King Bed at home. DH is 6' 3" and I'm 5' 7", so we need a little more room than a queen bed. My sis and her DH are quite a bit smaller than we are, so if they ever accompany us on a DVC trip, they can have the queen in the 2nd BR :rotfl:

I love just for the bed as we have a bed that size at home and although neither of us are big, anything smaller seems too cramped now.

Just this morning I was thinking that we could use a King Bed at home! I voted for king bed in Master bedroom!

Bobbi :)

I would prefer an option of layout since we are a family of 3 and my DS is already 5'10" (14) and I don't think it is comfortable for him to have to sleep on a sofa bed on our vacation for any length of time. I don't want a studio because I like the full kitchen. I could see where that would cause the DVC more problems because of people racing to book the 2 queens or the must haves for the king...

We LOVE the king bed in the 1BR, especially since we don't have one at home. Whenever we return from a trip I spend weeks trying to justify to myself ditching our relatively new full size for a king.

I have no interest in sharing that space with my kids. One of the reasons we chose DVC over standard hotel rooms is so we don't have to trip over one another 24/7 like we did in smaller more confined spaces. I love my kids, but if we had to spend every sleeping and waking moment together we would want to kill one another.

I choose king because that is what we prefer now and will in the future. But for a relatively short period of time when the kids were smaller it would have been nice to have the 2 queens in there. I refuse to let anyone sleep on the sleeper sofa as I like to use my living room / kitchen as a living room / kitchen not a bedroom. It is nice to sit in there in the evening after the kids go to bed and it is also nice to get up in the morning and go in there. There were a few times when the kids were really little that my husband or I had to go sleep in the 2nd bedroom with them because of nightmares or something. It would have been nice during those few years to have 2 queens in the master bedroom so I did not have to waste my points on a 2 bedroom. But that was my option. And I knew going into my purhcase that is what I was buying and what I would want for future vacations. Now that the kids are older, I love haveing the king bed and a bedroom with no kids.

It never bothered me to share a hotel room w/ my kids & I certainly don't mind sharing the 1 br w/ them. Of course I'm not at Disney to have a "romantic" getaway. It's much easier to find alone time with DH at home.

I agree with the posters that like to leave the living room open. I don't want my kids sleeping in there so DH & I can stay up & enjoy drinks on the balcony or watch TV in the living room. Plus I am usually the first one up in the AM at Disney (again complete opposite of when I'm home). I'd like to be able to get up & make coffee, enjoy some peace and quiet all alone on the balcony or sofa, and enjoy the morning without disturbing anyone else. I am in the minority but wish the room had 2 beds.

This question really get to me. Things are bad enough now with people bringing 4 into a one bedroom with your arrangement 6 would be in there. We have enough problems now with over use of rooms at OKW.

I'm sure you already know this but a king and queen bed are both the same Length wise. Of course you do get all that extra room width wise (I don't know about you but my wife and I are in that group that doesn't like to cuddle when sleeping... before sleep fine... during sleep, no touchy)

I should add a caveat to my scenario earlier of the 6 person 1 BRs.. they should only be offered on New DVC properties. They shouldn't change existing configurations.

I don't care if its a king bed or a queen, but I only want ONE bed in there.

It really doesnt matter to me, my wife and I are alone most the time , but twins could come in handy one day. :cool1:

DH and I have always had a king bed at home, but on vacation, I don't really care all that much. I do think it would be better to have 2 queens if you were doing a girlfriend trip or something like that. Or, if you had a young child, too big for a pack and play, that you wanted to have in the room with you with bed rails. I honestly wouldn't care one way or another. Our family doesn't mind the king set-up, our 3 year old ended up in it during our Dec trip anyway, she was "scared." :)

Well said! :thumbsup2

Oh, yeah, I can't think of anything more fun than sitting in my jacuzzi while the kids are sitting on the bed watching me. :crazy2:

...and just what is so bad about being romantic at Disney??????
We find that being away from all of the pressures at home, we can find the time for things like the jacuzzi....and let me tell you the last thing we want is any of our four teenagers around!!!

Absolutely nothing at all wrong with being romantic at Disney, just not the reason I go there...at this point in my life anyway. Maybe when the kids are older & we do some alone trips that jacuzzi will come in real handy. Right now I'd rather throw the kids in there with some bubbles & watch them have a good time. Mine aren't teenagers yet either so I'm sure I'll be happy to have them taking over the living room when that time comes. They'll probably be up later then me by then anyway. ;)

I think it's funny so many of you mention the jacuzzi use and not wanting kids around. We have a giant jacuzzi tub in our master bath at home, and the only one in the family who has used it in the last 6 months is my just turned 4 year old DD!
I didn't let her use it at BWV though. The thought of her bathing with other people's dead skin cells really grossed me out. I made her get showers, so she wasn't begging for the jets to be on. :teeth: I disinfect ours by running bleach and white vinegar in a tub of water through the jets every couple of months. I can't imagine housekeeping does that between guests-yuck.

No, I wouldn't want the beds changed. It would just mean people would be stuffing 6 or more in a 1 bedroom. More wear and tear on the rooms. Right now it feels like luxury. That's the way I like it.

If people have 6 or more, they need to spring for the points for the 2 bedroom or get 2 studios.
