when you're putting in your holiday requests which way do you go? I've stuggled with money until the past few years. I tend to be conservative on my gifts. I ask for practical things that are also a luxury. Examples might be a kitchen aid mixer, thick terry cloth robe, new cd player for the car, etc.
It is my anniversary this weekend. I told dh there are things I want for the house and car. I want to go to the movies and spend the weekend fixing things around the house.

I don't wear jewelry or collect expensive doodads. Luxuries to me are hard cover books I may covet (instead of getting them from the library) or a boxed dvd set--things like that.


My DH once gave me a tent for Valentine's Day, that romantic devil! I totally get your mom, though. Last year all I wanted was a good vacuum cleaner and that's what I got. I spent Christmas Day happily vacuuming everything in sight
