Finally sorted out our next trip to DLRP! :cheer2:

After some decision, we had decided to book My Travel Explorers for October half term, so as to experience Halloween. I had booked for 6 nights, but then DD and I decided we would forget any ideas of an additional budget trip in June, and book the final night (31st October) at the Disneyland Hotel!! As a result we have also booked our flights, using Air Miles, and I have also sent a reservation request to RS Transports, as we have decided this will be a lot less hassle than taking the train or the VEA.

So, we will arrive on 26th October, stay 5 nights at MTE, then transfer to the Disneyland Hotel for a relaxing finish to the holiday. We are also considering the Halloween Party, the CM I booked the Disneyland Hotel with could not offer us any discounts on tickets, so we are going to ask about this when we renew our APs at Easter. Being able to relax in the hotel prior to what would be a very late night is sure to help, plus we wouldn't have to fight our way back to the MTE, on the pink bus!

:yay:

:cheer2: WOW. Disneyland hotel even for one night. Sounds fantastic :cheer2:

Doesn't it just, we are so excited, and the Dream Pass discount helped a bit, though I still had to make sure I was sitting down when she gave me the price! :lmao: Having sat and worked out the total hotel cost, and divided it by the number of nights, it actually works out at an average of £130 a night, which doesn't sound quite so bad :rolleyes1

Incidentally, I was looking on the Expedia website, so as to get some idea of cost before I rang up, and I came across a Saturday night in January on sale at £275 (far less than we are paying!). So, if anyone really wants to experience the DLH, just for one night, then I am sure there are ways of doing so.

Nice one Annette :thumbsup2

We may be joining you, seriously considering the October half term for our next hol, probably just the end of the week and including the Halloween Party and at the moment its' a toss up between MTE and Cheyenne, don't think DH would allow the DLH, what a great way to end the holiday for you.:goodvibes

OOOOOh a night in the Disneyland Hotel - I'm really excited for you, for the whole trip!!!

Was it you who had the bet on that we'd have our flights booked by last weekend? I lasted a whole extra week :rotfl:

Sounds exciting, Jill :thumbsup2 Are you really considering braving the pink bus though, not like you

Enjoy your forthcoming trip, Emma princess:

Glad you got it booked, Annette.:thumbsup2 It is thanks to you that I have my own shiny new ticker as well. Reading what you wrote about Airmiles convinced me to convert my Clubcard vouchers and get booked in for April.:goodvibes

The Airmiles deal is great, isn't it? I reckon our flights cost little more than the equivalent of £50 for the two of us, including taxes and everything. Looking on the BA web site, they would have cost over £200 had we booked that way!

I'd still be interested in anyone's opinion on the Halloween Party, I know this has been discussed before, but I still can't decide if it's worth doing or not?

The CM I spoke to on the phone this morning told me that the park closes, and that only those with tickets can go in, but I seem to recall people saying different on here :confused3

Hi - the Halloween party is ticket only and with a Dream AP you get 50% off ticket price. Its an experience and one I am glad I did if only to see peoples costumes. BUT it is manic - the queing to get back into the park was very disorganised - they sent you away from the main gates the year we were there towards the Studios then back round. People were pushing and shoving. Queues for the rides made it pretty much a no no with kids so we just soaked up the atmosphere and wandered round. The ghost parade route was chock a block a long time before the parade so if thats part of what you want to see you need to be there early to get a good seat. There seemed to be a lot more adults than kids in the park with the result that the children in our party had their view obscured for most things.

As you are in the DLH for your last night and they have a private park entrance I am not sure what the protocol for that would be...would you queue up with us mere mortals (or immortals on Halloween night!!) or be let in via the lift? That might make it a bit easier plus you can go back to your hotel much quicker if you do decide you have had enough.

Am I glad I did it - yes - would I do it again - No.

Thank you Ruthiebabie, this information is very helpful indeed, if what you say is right about the entrance from the DLH, then that has reinforced my decision to splash out on that last night even further!

How did you get 50% off the ticket price? The CM on the phone yesterday said there were no discounts for Dream pass holders on her list, will we be able to get 50% off tickets from the AP office, or City Hall maybe? I do think we would like to attend the party, so as to complete the Halloween experience, but it would be better if tickets were £10 each, instead of £20 :yay:

Is the parade only on that night, or will it be on during the days leading up to it too? We will be at DLP all that week, so should be able to catch the parade on another day, we will also no doubt have done most rides extensively, so we can spend the Halloween Party just enjoying the atmosphere :maleficen

No, it was me! :yay:

Sounds wonderful, the park looks absolutely fantastic decorated for Halloween and I'd love to go to the party once ~ if only to say I've experienced it. I think you will find they offer the AP discount on tickets nearer the time.

As for the Disneyland Hotel :cloud9: sheer bliss!

Although I think you only get the private lift to the park if you have booked a Castle Club room.

I knew it was someone called Elaine :rotfl2:

I wondered if it was just Castle Club that had the special entrance, especially having just read about it on the CC thread, doe anyone know how you enter the park if you are staying in a standard room at the DLH?

DD has asked what people tend to dress up as for the party, is it mostly witches, or are there lots of other costumes? Also, it doesn't have to be Disney related, does it? She would like to dress up as a student from Battle Royale (don't ask :teacher: )

I was thinking of dressing up as a corpse bride, or like Melanie Ravenswood, if I can find the right costume, perhaps buy a second hand bridal gown and trash it? :bride:

Any ideas anyone? :cutie:

I was betting on you booking a June trip Annette, as well as the Easter and October one :lmao: !

Corpse bride outfit sounds brill.

Elaine

Will you be wearing your hat though so everyone recognises you again :rotfl:

I came close to doing a budget trip, but then decided that the cost would pay for that once in a lifetime night in the DLH :cloud9:

If it's cold enough, yes, not sure how it will look under a veil though :rotfl2:
