Do you like McDonald's french fries? You might not after watching this...

Yep. And the "Fast Food Nation" one. And the HFCS one. And the trans-fats one. And more than a few others.

I used to put it down to people just not understanding the ingredients list or the process, but when you can get people signing petitions to ban women's suffrage or the use of dihydrogen monoxide, it makes me start to wonder about people in general. ;)

Hey, that dihydrogen monoxide kills! ;)

Not sure I see the connection between the fries sitting in the jar and six months down the road.. Not to be gross, but if you haven't "passed" the contents of what you eat (fries - or anything else, for that matter) for 6 months, you have much, much bigger problems than occasionally indulging in fast food..

Moderation folks..

We were really excited about the Wendy's fries, until we got them. Neither of us saw any difference to what their fries were before the "new freshcut with seasalt." False advertisement if you ask me. They were extruded potato stuff just like all fast food fries and definitely not fresh cut or whatever they call them.

The fries at fast food joints are real potatoes - probably skinned with water jets, and then shot through a cutter of some sort. Now, things like the Smiles are extruded potato stuff (DW says Smiles are probably mashed potatoes with a starchy coating, then partially cooked in order to maintain the shape), and tater tots are basically hash browns held together with a starch mix, but fast food fries are real potatoes - skinned, cut, and then par-fried before being frozen.

The fries at our Wendy's are quite a bit different from the old fries. They certainly taste different.

I'm not impressed by this experiment at all. The fries may not look different but I wouldn't eat one.

I only like fries if they are super crisp. And the times I have been brave enough to get Mickey D fries they were limpy. Yucko!

But I like dole whips too and they have hfcs, lol.

Corn syrup solids, to be specific, not HFCS. The guys in my household still can't have it (turn corn into a syrup and do stuff with it, and their systems canNOT handle it), but it's good to be exact IMO.

I work in the food processing industry. If you've seen what I've seen, you might not want to eat. Period.

Of course not. Anything mass produced is going to be made in the easiest way possible accounting for a prescribed number of "failures."

The only fries I eat are the ones I make at home, in the oven with olive oil and seasoning - delicious.
