I'm in the middle. It wouldn't be my first choice, but DH has the first deer he shot mounted in the basement. Our basement is done more rustic than the rest of the house, knotty pine, brown leather couch, olive green walls.

He is going elk hunting this fall. I hope he has a great time, but I really hope he doesn't shoot a monster elk. I can't even imagine a huge elk head in my basement.

I didn't know this, but I guess my basement is tacky looking.

I dislike them for my own home and I don't have a problem with hunters although I don't hunt myself.

This reminded me of a time when dd was about 5 and her class was going on a field trip to a ranch. I was fairly new to the area and didn't realize that this ranch was owned by a former state governor and big game hunter.

Poor kid was traumatized when she got home! "Mom, all the animals were DEAD!" He had stuffed all the animals and had many rooms with displays from different areas of the world. The teachers figured everyone knew what a trip to this ranch meant!

it depends. there are a couple of places i know of where i think hey are cool (for example, a bar that has heads of animals supposedly killed by teddy roosevelt, or in a national park lodge or something), but i wouldn't want them in my own home.
